Does anyone know where I can get any of Dunhill's Havanna blends other than
their store? I assume that's the only place to get them. Does anyone have any
experience with them, and are they worth it? I generally lean towards
Penzance, Balkan Sasieni, Margate, Dark Star, Gawith's Best Brown and Full Va.
etc...Sorry if I bombard this place with stupid questions, it's just that I
just found it and I have a lot of questions. I've only been smoking pipes for
three years now, but working at a tobacconist has made me see the light (no pun
intended)

Rich,

Dunhill's "Mr. Alfred's Own" and "Cuba" are very much worth it IMHO. As of
my last visit to the UK about a year ago, these mixtures were available only
through their London store. Most likely this is still the case. However,
the store personnel emphasized that it's possible to mail order these
mixtures from just about anywhere in the world.

Yes Dunhill's London shop does do mail orders, and quite pomptly at that. My
wife used to phone them up and order Mr. Alfred's Own for me(as a nice
surprise). It is the best pipe tobacco I have ever smoked, IMHO, very easy to
smoke all day.

A quick dogpile search "Dunhill London" turns up, among countless other
things, this page: http://www.pipes.org/Articles/dunhill.html

It includes the contact information for Dunhill London, and a list and
description of many of the tobacco blends. Cool.

The number to Dunhill in London has changed.Like here, area codes etc are
being changed. The below info is from Marc Burrow's business card he sent
me with my last order.FWIW,it was approx $12.00/tin with shipping
included for 10 tins of Oct 89 and 2 tins of 1167(Cuba).There is a five
hour difference in time from London to NY.

Guess I blew it.

The numbers that Mr. Stanley presents are substantially different, and I
suspect they are correct, since he mentions the recent changes....

You can't believe everything you read on the internet, can you?

One of my all-time favorites as well. I have a little review of it at:
www.stanford.edu/~aadelman
It is unique and worth the extra expense unless you go through a tin
each week. That could get a little pricey...
