On another board the topic of Savinelli High Grades was brought up.
The Question was if the Savinelli Giubileo D'Oro was their highest
grade handmade in the traditional shapes. Well it turns out Giubileo
D'Oro is their highest grade in traditional shapes but are not hand
made, only the Autograph is hand made. Well I have a Savinelli pipe
that my mother gifted me a few years ago that is stamped Straight
Grain c, I could not find a referance to this pipe anywhere. I emailed
Savinelli about this pipe and here is their reply:
A Straight Grain C is not a part of Golden Jubilee series.

Each year, pipes that have great graining are set aside during the
course of regular production and then finished at year end.

They are the nicest grain pipes from one years production.

Yours seems to have a gold band which means it was one of the nicest
of that particular year
as the rest do not have a gold band.

I have a Savinelli Strait Grain Pipe that is truly a great smoker. My
question is what line of Savinelli does this pipe fall under? All that
is stamped on pipe is Straight Grain. Is this one of your Giubileo
D'Oro pipes? I know the retail for this pipe was in the $300.00 range,
it was a gift from my mother.
