Dear Customers and Friends,
June 24, 2002

The other day I announced the arrival of the Fine Line of Torano
Cigars. For the time being, I have suspended the sale of Torano cigars
until I have the opportunity to speak with Charlie Torano, at his
request, on Thursday or Friday, June 27th or 28th. You will also
notice should you care to look; that prices are changing for all
Torano products across the board. This is to comply with the wishes of
the Torano Cigars.

Orders which came to Mr. Bundles by or before June 23rd will be
honored, even if I have to purchase the cigars at retail. Orders on or
after June 24, 2002, cannot be processed until after the meeting with
the Toranos. I am sorry for the inconvenience but there is nothing I
can do until that meeting takes place.

Good luck, Uncle Mikey, hope it all works out favourably.

Well, what happened? Why would you be forced to suspend the sale of
ANYTHING, unless there was a health issue of some sort? Are these cigars
tainted in some way? Unless you sell these on consignment (which I highly
doubt), why would you let the manufacturer push you around like this? After
all, you BOUGHT the damned things?

My guess is that there is some sort of MAP (Minimum Advertised Price)
issue. Manufacturers who have MAP policies usually have them because
they believe that selling at a reduced margin erodes the perceived
value of the merchandise. Uncle Mikey certainly does have the right
to sell the cigars at whatever price he wishes, but Torano also has
the option to refuse to sell to him should he advertise the cigars
below MAP. It's just a legal form of price fixing, and is actually
very common.

Steve Heath,
Knows nothing about this particular situation but has dealt with a MAP
violation threat or two.

I have read in ASC that Padron and Camacho and maybe even LGC won't sell to
certain Web vendors because of their heavy discounting. I have seen recent
court cases regarding this MAP issue, but have not seen a final verdict on
any of them. I just don't get it with cigars, as some of the best smokes
out there are one or two dollar smokes. Give me a Connie 733 ANY DAY over
one of those crappy $30 Macanudos or $32 Partagas'. There is obviously no
price/quality perception problem there (with the JR smokes).

Ya know, I thought that the "Boom" was over. Yet you still see all of these
ridiculously high priced smokes. I've been guilty of buying these expensive
cigars. But having been at this a while now, and having seen the very
positive effects that aging has on very inexpensive cigars, I'm wising up,
and "voting with my feet" against evil manufacturers like Jamastran and
others of their ilk.

If I were Uncle Mikey, I'd tell the Torano guys to saw it off. There are
tons of cigar brands out there, and having smoked a Torano, I can say it
would be no great loss to me, as a consumer, to not have access to them.

Folks, I never posted to this group before and never before on a real
computer. I used to use webtv. To answer some of the questions and
presumptions I can say you all have it some what correct. However, we
have come to an agreement, The Toranos and I and I am back selling
their products. I am also doing very well with them. As long as they
continue suppling me and I can service my customers I will stay with
the line. Should I have trouble again, the kind that directly affects
my customers then I will have to make other decesions at that time.

Price fixing of any kind is against Federal Law but we are all adults
here. It does happen and some of us have been affected by it. To get
into a costly law suite to prove a point only make the lawyers rich
and accomplished nothing. Some of you are in business and you know we
all just have to do the best we can for ourselves and our customers.
Very soon I will have my toll free phone number posted here and if
there is any confusion as to prices on my site you will be able to
call and clarify whatever is bothering you or have any questions
answered. Mr Bundles Members do get some special deals but you have to
be a member with valid ID number to obtain these special deals.

Again, we do what we can for our members and all our customers. mb

So, did you raise the price, per their wishes? Answer that.
