I've had mild acne since I was 12 or 13 (I'm 21 now) but it usually
wasn't very bad. A few weeks ago, I broke out into these HUGE,
painful pimples. It hurts to touch them, sleep on my side, take a
shower, make facial expressions. I had to go to the doctor for kidney
and sinus infections and I asked them about this break out. They said
it was probably a staph infection and my antibiotics for the kidney
and sinus infections should clear them up. They didn't give me
anything specifically for this alleged staph infection, and they
didn't give me ANY information about it, and they were reluctant to
answer any questions I had. (I don't think they knew the answer.) I
saw another doctor at the emergency room the next day (I was very sick
from the kidney infection) and they doctors and nurses acted the same
way.
So, I'm hoping maybe someone here can help me out. How am I to
differentiate between acne and staph? Should I see a dermotologist?
Is there anything I can do over-the-counter to help me out? Do you
think this could be related to the other infections I have?
Thanks in advance.
Leonessa.

I had horrible breakouts from some weird cold/virus thing one time
(yucko, it was horrible) but the antibiotics improved things within the
week.

yucko and horrible because it was unlike any normal skin breakouts..
(didn't want to sound like I was yucko'ing normal acne, cause this was
way different)
