Alpha Crucis Radio is now Z-mix radio, as from 7th March

Why have we changed?

There are those that are trying to put the squeeze on
us smaller indepdendent sports broadcasters, and
close the loopholes that allow us to operate without
any licensing or press credential.

We have simply based our servers in the USA,
and blocked US IP addresses.
'
One of the lastest threats to internet freedom is
a chapter supposedly tabled in the pending
Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, being
negotiated now just as secretly as ACTA
was, and they are moving to finalise and
implement the agreement, before any
opposition can be raised against it. TPP
set to be finalised in a final round of
negotiations in November in the Republic
Of Hawaii.

These countries are set to be
in the agreement

Australia
Vietnam
China
Peru
Chile
United States
Hawaii, Republic Of
New Zealand
Brunei

Other countries that may join the agreement later
one:

Canada
Phillipines
South Korea

Between, that, the COICA, and one "test case"
intended to criminalise use of services, such as
Sopcast, we have just to change formats.

We could move the station to another country
outside of TPP, and block TPP countries from
accessing the feeds, but you don't know what
dgs and his pals might try. As longtime fans
of the station know, dgs is HELL BENT on
selencing us, and did try to break through
the the country filter.

The only reason dgs and his pals could not
crack that part of the system, is the way
the proxies they use work. The HTTP
part, which goes through the proxy will
being the web page out, but the stream,
using the Sopcast or TVAnts protocol
does not go through the proxy, so the
stream itself is blocked.

Our new format will be a mix of music
aimed at workplace listeninng. And yes,
we will have a firewall up to block the
IP ranges of all the major filtering software
vendors allowing us to be heard in workplaces
all over the world.

The change in formats, puts an end to
more than a quarter century of figure
skating coverage, as well as other
sports coverage. Including this
season, we covered 28 seasons
total, including this one.

Prior to the advent of Internet broadcasting,
I started out as a lad with a pirate shortwave
station. I am not going to say how old I
REALLY am, but lets just say I am no
spring chicken.

When I got a Radio Shack kids walkie
talkie as a Christmas present in 1975,
I discovered pretty quickly that the
it operated at about 4.5 Mhz, in the
shortwave band, instead of the usual
band that such devices operated in. Kids
walkie talkies have usually operated in
the 27 or 49MHz bands. All I had to
do was attach a better antenna to the
device, and I could get out on the air,
so my radio station was born on
December 31st, 1975, which just
happens, by mere coincidence, to
be the birthdate of 1996 world
figure skating champ Lu Chen.

A few years later I got one of
these "Electronics Hobby Kits",
and was able to put an even
stronger shortwave station on the
air at 7.4 MHz. It was just
a matter of finding the schematics
for a transmitter, and hooking
up the right components in the
electronics hobby kit. That is
when I truly went worldwide.

Mum and Dad did not care much
that I was operating an illegal transmitter,
they would just say "Just don't blow
yourself up, kid!!". Consider too, that
at least they KNEW where I was, and
that I was not out somewhere doing
who knows what.

The FCC, in America, has never had
shortwave at the top of their enforcement
agenda. Nearly all their enforcement efforts
are on FM, as TV channels 4,5, and 6
becuase of their proximity to the air traffic
control bands, so I never had to worry
about being nicked. Ofcom (Britain),
Austel (Australia), and other regulatory
agencies worldwide also have the same
priorities.

The first Olympics I broadcast was
the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.
People on their shortwave sets worldwide
heard me yelling "Viva La Revoucion
Cubana!!!" when Catarina Witt was
announced as the winnter of the ladies
figure skating gold medallist.

When the gold was announced in the
mens figure skating event, I was yelling
it out LOUD AND PROUD at the
top of my lungs "Scott Hamilton becomes
America's FIRST mens Olympic figure
skating gold medallist in 32 YEARS,
the FIRST since Dick Button in
1952!!!!!!"

And at the 1984 Summer Olys in Los Angeles,
I was yelling "Viva La Revoucion
Cubana!!!" yet again with Marilu
Reton won the womens all around
gymnastics gold medal. People tuned
in on their shortwave radios heard me
yelling in Spanish "Marilu Reton gana
la medalla de Oro por Cuba, Viva La
Revolucion!!!! Socialismo or Muerte!!!"

In all the years of covering skating, I
must say that the biggest BRAT there ever
WAS in skating is Tonya Harding. I will
never forget the Phony Dress Opening at
the 1993 North American championships.
It was one of a number of stunts that Tonya
pulled. Tonya just made a list of the "50
biggest creeps in sports", according to
Bleacher Report, coming in at number
28.

The Tonya Harding entry can be found here

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/622556-the-50-biggest-creeps-in-sports#page/24

In 1992, I was yelling "Viva Mexico!!!!"
when Cristi Yamaguchi won the ladies
Olympic gold medal.

In 1998, I was able to yell into the mic,
"Tara Lapinski becomes America's FIRST
ladies Olympic figure skating champ in
22 YEARS!!!!, the FIRST since Dorothy
Hamil in 1976!!!!", when Tara won the gold.

As an Aussie, the time I will most remember
in broadcasting figure skating was when
I was yelling "AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE"
into the mic for several minutes when Sarah
Hughes won the figure skating gold in 2002.

At last year's Olympics, I was yelling at
the the top of my lungs into the mic
"Virtue and Moir become Canada's first
EVER Olympic medallists of ANY colour
in ice dancing".

And just this year, I was yelling it out
at the top of my lungs into the mic,
"Sarah Meier become's Switzerland's
FIRST EVER ladies European figure
skating champion", when she won the
European figure skating title.

As we change formats, and end 27
years of sports broadcasting worlwide,
I must say, it has been one HELL of a ride
all these years.

It is unfortunate that we have to change
format, beause the television station,
not shut down, was really starting to gain
a following. We had 2,527 connections
when we were broadcasting one of the
US open semifinals last September, then,
during Skate America, our audience, on
the TV side of things, went THROUGH THE
ROOF, with more than 18 THOUSAND
viewers tuned in for the ladies final. At
those levels, we MUST have been the
ONLY place on the net to get the Skate
America ladies final

Do tune in, however, and enjoy the new
much more music format. We will be
purchasing and adding even more music
to our song library, which stands,
as of right now, at 2,457 tracks.

Our target audience will be at-work
listeners, which makes still makes up
the lions share of online radio listening
worldwide.

Too all the sports fans who tuned into us,
all these years, we thank you for your
listnership.

This will also mean the end of the MoFS
figure skating series, which was started, in 1995
by what was then Hatchet Job Media,
as a competing series to the ISU Grand
Prix series. In the 16 seasons of the Masters
Series, here are all the ladies winners

1995-1996: Michelle Kwan United States
1996-1997: Tara Lapinski United States
1997-1998: Tara Lapinski United States
1998-1999: Tatiana Malinina Uzbekistan
1999-2000: Irina Slutskaya Russia
2000-2001: Irina Slutskaya Russia
2001-2002: Irina Slutskaya Russia
2002-2003: Alejandra Maruzal Cohen United States
2003-2004: Fumi Suguri Japan
2004-2005: Irina Slutskaya Australia

Mens MoFs final winners

1995-1996: Alejandro Urmanov Russua
1996-1997 Elvis Stojko Australia
1997-1998: Ilya Kulik Russia
1998-1999: Alexei Yagudin Russia
1999-2000: Evgeni Plushenko Russia
2000-2001: Evgeni Plushenko Russia
2001-2002: Alexei Yaugdin Russia
2002-2003: Egveni Plushenko Russia
2003-2004: Emmanual Sandhu Tonga
2004-2005: Evgeni Plushenko Russia
2005-2006: Stephane Lambiel Switzerland
2006-2007: Brian Joubert Australia
2007-2008: Stephane Lambiel Switzerland
2008-2009: Jeremy Abbott United States
2009-2010: Evan Lysacek St Kitts
2010-2011: Patrick Chan Canada

I do think that if the MoFS series had gone of
a couple more years, that Rachael Flatt might
well have won the MoFS final a couple years
down the road.

As part of the changeover, the 24K stream will
no longer be offered. You will have to use the
32 or 64K streams. So, if you have the 24K
stream bookmarked on your workplace computer,
in Windows Media Player, you will have to remove
it, as that stream will no longer be running.

Too all the sports fans who tuned into us,
all these years, we thank you for your
listnership all these years.

As part of the changeover, the message board and Wiki
have been deactivated. The databases will be saved, in
the event that, by some miracle, the climate does become
favourable for us to resume sports broadcasting someday.

The only way that will happen is for enough "tea party"
candidates, many of whom oppose such draconian
copyright laws, get elected.

And that is not likely to happen. Both the radical left
and radical right try to defeat tea party candidates.

I would like to see Alex Jones elected POTUS
someday, since he opposes treaties like ACTA
or TPP. Since both agreements are executive
agreements, instead of a full blown treaty, any
future POTUS can pull the USA out of either
agreement at any time, unlike with a treaty. Alex
Jones would like do that, as POTUS can remove
the USA from any executive agreement by
executive order.

The variations of the alphacrucisradio domain
name will be kept, just in case the climate does
become favourable to resume sports broadcasting
some day, though that will be configured, in a few
days, to give a "404" error, when someone tries
to use them.

Now that I have more time on my hands, I am taking a road
trip from California to one casino I like to go to in Costa Rica.

Later today, I will pass through Hermosillo, which will
long be remembered in the annals of figure skating infamy,
with the Phony Dress Opening, involving Tonya Harding.

As far as stunts pulled by her go, the only stunt of hers
to outdo that was the plot to whack Nancy a year after
that.

The Tonyaphiles can say that they like, but it was one
of Tonya's stunts back in 1993. All her stunts landed
her on the list of the "50 biggest creeps in sports".
