I went round to friends at 6p.m. last night for a simple supper, simple it was but how wonderful it was. My friend is a Jersey girl and she had flown home for the weekend, she came back with Jersey salt, Jersey Royal potatoes, Jersey butter AND Jersey white crab meat supplied by her brother's company. My contribution was a loaf I had made and a bottle of fizz followed by Black Bomber, yes, a simple meal eaten with a tossed green salad, it was delicious. I can't buy fresh crab meat here especially by the kilo, so I am off to Google it.

I adore Jersey Royals, IMO they're quite the best new potatoes
you can get. Mrs S loves crab but I can take it or leave it alone.
What's Black Bomber? [tum rumbles]

Fabulous cheese similar to a Cheddar, try it. I love crab and lobster. In the UK it is too expensive.

Haven't been to Atlantic City in awhile. Are the pinball arcades still
on the boardwalk?

I didn't know they had Jersey Royals in the U.S. :-)

A lot of places are named after other places where the new settlers have
come from. The original Jersey is an island off the French coast and is a
British Crown Dependency, which I suspect pisses the frogs off.

I wonder if you could grow them there? Do they need any special soil and
climate?

I used to post in another place where, after anything related to
the French (customarily ROT13ed to "Serapu"), it was thought
proper to append "WOCAB" meaning "Who Of Course Are Batsrads"

ROT13 is a simple method of encoding for privacy. Each letter of
the alphabet is rotated (shifted) 13 places to the right so that 'A'
becomes 'N'; 'B' becomes 'O'; etc. Technically it's a Caesar cipher,
named after Julius Caesar who used such encryption.

There are other kinds of ROT, e.g. ROT8 where each character is
shifted 8 places. ROT13 is commonly used to obfuscate writings
because applying ROT13 twice brings you back to the original
plaintext, the alphabet containing 26 letters.

ROT13 is often used to hide spoilers when discussing e.g film plots.
Many newsreader programs have this function built-in.

A bit too technical for me - I'll try writing in Latin or French instead, much easier.

I'm a bit more subtle I say Roti de Boeuf and smile. The French think we cannot cook roast beef hence they call us The Roast Beefs. My preference is for medium rare beef and why this seems to surprise them I have no idea. I don't eat frogs's legs, because of the way they are killed. I ate some as a canape recently, on a bit of toast with mayonnaise, I didn't know I thought it was chicken but I would never eat them willingly.

Sometimes when it looks like we are writing gibberish it's ROT13.
Other times it's gibberish.

Okay. I think tomatoes are one of the few crops that can be grown in
the Canaries because they tolerate salty/desalinated water. Possibly
Jerseys could be grown there, but it might be too much effort.

I like snails but not drowning in garlic butter, just a hint of garlic is enough otherwise you can't taste the snail.

Not that upset. I've not had very good experiences with Frogs, particularly
French chefs. I've found them pompous and arrogant. I'm gradually coming to
terms that he's partnered with one.

I saw some nice fat slugs while I was gardening today. They can't taste a
lot different to a snail. How come nothing is eating them in my garden if
they are so tasty?
