I'm just curious. What happened to all the old Playboy Playmates? For a few
years after they appear in Playboy most of them did Playboy related stuff
like hang out at Playboy clubs and parties. Plus they also did more photo
specials. But what happened to them as more years went by? I am curious as
to what happened to the Playmates when they got on in years. I figure most
of them married rich guys. Please post info as to what happened to specific
Playmates.

OK, here is what I know about one Playmate of the 60s, China Lee. She
married Mort Sahl and they had at least one kid.

Also Karen Velez, a 1984 Playmate of the Year married and divorced the Six
Million Dollar Man. So what is Karen doing now?

What about the others? In particular Hef's old squeeze, Barbi Benton.

Barbi Benton married a very wealthy man named George Gradow about 20
years ago. In 1981, I supervised a photo shoot of their gorgeous mansion
in Pasadena - it was absolutely stunning. (Barbi is an expert on
antiques.) They've since had two kids and moved out of LA - to Colorado,
I think.
Shannon Tweed has lived with Gene Simmons for 12 years and they have two kids.
Crista Speck (1961) married producer Marty Krofft.
One PMOY from the mid-60s named Alison-something is the mother of "Bold
and the Beautiful" star Katherine Kelly Lange.
India Allen is a film producer.
A lot of them *do* marry well.

I thought they all ran off and married rock-n-rollers...lessee, there's
Shannon Tweed (Nov. 1981, and a Playmate of the Year, if I'm not mistaken,
who is Mrs. Gene Simmons), Donna D' Errico (Sept. 1995, who is Mrs. Nikki
Sixx), and Pamela Stein (Nov. 1987, who is Mrs. Robin Zander) for a few
starters. And, FWIW, some of the gals who once worked as waitresses in the
Playboy clubs, shoulda probably _been_ Playmates, but weren't. Like Debbie
Harry...

The 1920s mansion they had in Pasadena in 1980? It won design awards
back then. I haven't seen their current home.

Although they've been together over a decade and have two children, Gene
and Shannon have never made it legal. (Or haven't admitted it if they have.)

Donna D' Errico (Sept. 1995, who is Mrs. Nikki

I went to high school with one -- Kim Evenson from 1984. She was cute
and all, but I didn't see a centerfold coming. Last I know of her,
she was in one the Porky's movies playing a Swedish exchange student.

I also spent a plane ride from LA to NY sitting next to Lonnie Chin,
also from the mid-80's. Nice girl. I was single at the time, and I
got her to write her phone number in my little black book ( I think I
told her I was planning to write a screenplay and would send it to her
to read. You know a line is golden when it works on a Playmate). I
never called (she lived in LA, and besides, who was I kidding?), but I
proudly displayed the number to my friends as the ultimate black book
entry. When you're 24, things like that are very impressive.

Jon, get back to us when you've got a line that works on nuns! Playmates
aren't exactly the hardest women in the world to bed, especially when you're
dangling a screenplay in front of them. <g>

I for one would prefer most 24-year-olds to Hugh Hefner.

Hmm, I don't honestly know. I saw a spread in Hello magazine about three
years ago, so it must be a new place. I didn't see a lot of antiques --
mostly contemporary pieces. A lot of it looked like wild horses running
through the surf -- black velvet painting stuff.

Besides Dorothy Stratton, other Playmates who have died young:
Claudia Jennings - auto accident in 1979
Willy Rey - drug overdose

Her new place in Aspen is not to be believed. They have a huge disco and a
fantastic view from every room. It took something like $12 million or more
and maybe five years to build. It is the most incredible thing I have ever
seen. I also cannot believe that she looks the same as she did when she
was dating Hef.

For many of them their time as "Bunnies" will have been the high point of
their lives. At heart, remember that a "Bunny" is just a specialized
cocktail waitress. Many go on to have a variety of careers.
My first cousin was a Playboy bunny. She left calif. and traveled to some
state in the south at age 18 to be a bunny. Ironic, huh? At the time I
believe that the women had to be 21 to be bunnies in Calif. Guess it's the
drinking age.
She was a bunny for many years. Worked in the hottest playboy clubs, Los
Angeles and I think Las Vegas.
In her mid-thirties, they retired her. Actually they gave her the option of
being "bunny mother" a sort of supervisor, or quitting. Evidently bunny mom
was not her thing, and she quit.
She then went on to serve bar at an LA hotspot called Tony Romas. Worked
there for several years. That ended, and she took work in a local dive bar.
Many drugs, abortions and drunk abusive boyfriends later, she apparently met
a very nice, younger guy. They married, and moved to Oklahoma.
She's a happy housewife now.

Wow, responding to a 15-year-old thread. Well, I don't know yet, but I (and many of my readers) would sure love to know whatever happened to Miss January 1977 Susan Kiger:

My Brother did some work on that house. It has two furnaces and a heated driveway.
