The wigs and faces have come off on morning television -- and the nails
are out!
It isn't pretty.
Barbara Walters coldly ripped into outgoing VIEW talker Star Jones this
morning on ABC-TV.
Walters announced that Star would no longer be permitted to appear on
the show -- effective immediately -- after Star strayed from script
during an exit that's turned ugly.
Transcipt:
WALTERS: "And then there were three. This is, truthfully, a very
difficult day for us, and it is a sad day for us. If you were watching
the program yesterday, you would have heard Star announce that she's
leaving THE VIEW and will not be on the program next fall.
"We didn't expect her to make this statement yesterday. She gave us no
warning. And we were taken by surprise. But the truth is that Star has
known for months that ABC did not want to renew her contract and that
she would not be asked back in the fall.
"The network made this decision based on a variety of reasons which I
won't go into now. But we were never going to say this. We wanted to
protect star. And so we told her that she could say whatever she wanted
about why she was leaving and that we would back her up.
"We worked closely with her representatives and we gave her time to
look for another job. We hope she would announce it on the program and
leave with dignity.
"But Star made another choice.
"And since her announcement yesterday, she has made further
announcements that have surprised us.
"So it is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is
the same at this table.
"And, therefore, regrettably Star will no longer be on this program,
except for some shows that have been prerecorded.
"THE VIEW helped make Star a Star and Star helped make THE VIEW the
success that it is.
"We will never forget that. We wish her well in this new chapter of her
life as we begin a new chapter on THE VIEW."

Uh, what announcements? That she was fired? Isn't it the TRUTH?
Everything would have been okay if Star had pretended she'd quit?
Not renewing a contract isn't the same as being fired.
it will be soon Star WHO??? LOL could never stand her and now i find
this all very funny. I bet you she gets a job but it wont last long
and then her dang 5 minutes of fame will finally be over
If this was any business, rather than The View, we'd be applauding
them for their businesslike approach. You quit, you clean out your
desk with your supervisor watching, and are then escorted out the
door by security.
What did Star expect would happen? It's all PR, IMO, and she'll
soon have a new deal, all by herself. Hell, she might even replace
Dan Abrams on The Abrams Report.

I'm not going to hold my breath.

Did you know that Dan is looking for a replacement, to replace himself?
He's now the head honcho of the MSNBC network...and retooling.
Right now, Jim Moret and Diane Dimond are subbing (auditioning?)
Kris
Gotcha, thanks! Yup, looks like Star is the bad guy here. She gave
ABC more than enough reason to dump her. She should have learned from
her mistakes and scurried off quietly rather than try to blame anybody
other than herself.
Sounds like they are just pissed that she made the statement instead of
them. Sheesh. It doesn't really make sense to me. When the show started,
they made a big deal out of getting women of every age and diversity. Now
they have two loud mouth New Yorkers, a bubble headed blonde and the crypt
keeper.

This is the most racist story of the year, maybe of the decade, and no
one is coming out and saying so.
Name one white woman fired for losing weight, throwing a big wedding
for herself, or undergoing plastic surgery. This debacle may be that
old windbag Walters' Waterloo.
I dislike Jones, always have. But to promote Vieira, equally
obnoxious, and FIRE Jones-- Walters and her Yes-Man deserve whatever
comes to them.

I think everyone knows she had gastric bypass. No one cares at this point,
imo.
> As for the wedding, if you don't see something wrong with what she did,

Really? What the hell did she do? I thought she prostituted herself for
the sake of having a big wedding. I'm also of the opinion that she didn't
pay for this wedding. Why should a celeb pay when there are willing
companies that vie for the honor? I mean, celebs fall all over themselves
for the swag at Sundance, et al.
Puzz
Please. She was let go because of arrogance and stupidity, neither of
which is associated with color.

Face your fears.
Live your dreams.
So why didn't they? Sheesh. I think they loved the publicity too and
didn't want it to end. Her wedding was like six months ago and now she's
getting the axe? I think Rosie had more to do with her firing than her
pimped out wedding. The View is still in trouble, imo, because Rosie is
just as bad as Star.
Puzz
Well, its certainly not for lawyers.
Puzz
Her wedding was quite awhile ago, and I'm sure that was part of the
non-renewal of her contract. She knew it, too.
