I know that some of you watch "Fox After Breakfast," that delightfully
irreverent morning chat show on the Fox network. This morning Tom
Bergeron, the host, said that his co-host, the wonderful Laurie
Hibberd (who, by the way, is engaged to Gelman, who produces Regis and
Krappie Lee and is KL's Nemesis) had "left the show."

He made several references to all the press that had been written over
the weekend about it, but it's not in the NYTimes online and I don't
take the NY Post.

So what's the real scoop? Fired? Quit? And WHY????

My mornings will never be the same. Please, folks with connections
(or who have access to NYC papers), tell me what REALLY happened!

I catch a few minutes of this show occasionally and found it difficult
to watch sometimes because of her personality. So, someone in the know
told me that she was asked to go into a rotation with the celebrity
co-hosts, i.e, Gladys Knight this week. She didn't like the
idea and left the show. Producers had auditioned other female co-hosts
before the show went national, so apparently they weren't committed to
her anyway.

The press release has said that Fox wishes to re-tool the show
using celebrities to guest host with the remaining host.

Sounds like a reasonable move to pump up sagging ratings
in a tough market segment. I've never seen the show.

Hmm... that's wierd... esp. since she'd already co-hosted the 20-month
cable run of "Fox After Breakfast" (namely, "Breakfast Time" on fX)...

Not really. The producers were apparently never happy with Laurie.
It really was a shame, her relaxed style was a pleasure to watch. I
never watched FAB very much because it was such a pale imitation of
BT, but I've watched a few times this week to see how it was going
without her. Gladys Knight is no Laurie Hibbard.

Now the real question, who thinks we are looking at Kathy Lee's
replacement in Laurie Hibbard. She has morning show experience and is
engaged to Gelman.

I was wondering when this would come up. GREAT idea! Regis and Laurie
Ann (or whatever her middle name is). If it kicked FOX's butt they'd have
it coming. FOX took Breakfast Time, focus group tooled almost all the
life out of it, brought it back in a sort of re-animator version as FAB,
and are now pulling the life support tubes one by one (Gillian, the road
warrior is gone, and I haven't seen the oh-so-lovely Suzanne in a while,
either).

And what about Jack?

Word is she was being blamed for the poor raitings (not the sock
puppet, what is up with that?). They wanted to go to a rotating
schedule of guest celebrity hosts (mostly fox stars). She thouhgt is
was stupid, they decided to split.

Jack? The dog? He's on The Pet Department on FX.

Jim, the announcer, I miss.

Suzanne was seen dancing at the end of today's show, but had no lines.

And after one week without Laurie, I reprogrammed my VCR to not bother
with FAB anymore. Maybe I'll start taping those Dallas reruns on TNN
instead . . . ;-)

Pet Department has been in reruns for half of eternity. What I want to
know is, what happened to Jack when the show ended?

Don't try to tell me he's living with Steve Walker. That was a farce.

Since the ratings weren't too high, they wanted Tom to be the host and
Laurie to alternate with different "big Name" co-hosts. She said no
way, so out da doe she go.
