LOVE TRIANGLE
YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE
EVEN while Richard Burton was bedding Elizabeth Taylor on the set of
"Cleopatra," he was trying to seduce her cuckolded husband, Eddie Fisher, a new
and strictly unauthorized Taylor biography claims.
Author Ellis Amburn, whose book "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World" will
soon be published in Britain and later here, says the hard-drinking,
rugby-playing Burton (who was twice married to Taylor) was bisexual.
Amburn suggests the Welsh actor had an affair with Laurence Olivier. Because
both were married to famous women, it was brief and discreet.
But it's the unsuccessful conquest of the totally straight Fisher that has
those who know of the book either steamed or laughing. Taylor is said to be
furious about the allegation. She's still very protective of Burton's memory,
as Talk magazine editor Tina Brown knows from the angry letter Liz co-signs in
the currentissue, denying there was a lot of boozing on the set of the
Taylor-Burton film "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
I couldn't reach Fisher yesterday, but did contact another of his ex-wives,
Connie Stevens. Connie was just rushing out the door to work on her NBC sitcom
pilot, "These Women," but took the time to discuss the upcoming book.
"It seems pretty crazy to me," she laughed. "It doesn't sound like the Richard
Burton I knew. He was the most dynamic man I've ever met. He tried to seduce
Eddie Fisher? C'mon -- Burton could do a whole lot better than that."
It seems to be the current trend in celebrity bios to "out" the dead. The
Burton allegations come just as Kate Buford's excellent book on Burt Lancaster
is climbing the charts. In it, she suggests the great star -- who'll be forever
remembered for that steamy beach sex scene with Deborah Kerr -- may have been
bisexual.
Man alive.......... who makes up this crap!! You would never in a
million years get me to believe Burton was bi. He said in a book that
when he was younger (early twenties) he tried it but DIDNT like it!!!!!!
What a crock!!!! How can people live with themselves who write this
kind of trash!!!!

Before you buy.
If you believe everything that people write
about themselves, you're a sad puppy. I
could easily believe that Burton had bisexual
flings throughout his life--he seemed to like
to live life to its fullest and with gusto,
so where's the contradiction?

Baby, you're going about this the wrong way completely. Hearing that an
actor (ANY actor) is gay/bi is AS surprising as hearing a hairdresser
is gay/bi -- the only difference being actors tend toward the
*butch*/masculine end of the gay-spectrum whilst hairdressers trend
towards the *flaming*/femme end.
IOW, assume an actor is gay/bi unless you get clear & convincing
evidence otherwise.
