I don't know why you'd be surprised. She left NYPD Blue after the
first season (ala Caruso) to be in a new show called ER.

Yeah, well, I'm saying you're probably full of shit and that she was just
what she said she was: a kooky girl in a kooky kind of love that made her
do kooky things.

God knows, NOTHING surprising EVER happens in life. Things happen just as
YOU would expect them to happen, and when they don't, it's because people
are lying to you about it.

I think her name is Springfield. Might be Stringfield.

Anyway....ER Live was great. I bet anyone that ever worked in a hospital
was smiling at this show.

But more germane to the newsgroup topic, I don't have exactly gossip here
but some speculation.

This Sherry person supposedly quit ER and flew clear across country to
live with a significant other? A dull CPA or something like this.

I'm saying I don't exactly believe this. I'm saying I think she may
have been fired from the show, or given a permanent hiatus, as it were.

Of course, the gossip columns startle that an actress would leave a

hit show and at the height of her career.

This startles me too, and I don't exactly believe it.

Her character wasn't all that interesting. They kept trying to make
it interesting, but the actress herself wasn't all that good.

I think the only way they could generate any interest in her was the
love angle with Dr. Green.

Why else did they send her away with such obvious promise of a
return? The doc was running along side the train for Christ's sake!

As it turns out, her relationship didn't work. And I hear on one of
the tabloid shows that the folks at ER would welcome her back with open arms.

Such good timing, eh?

In a world of lies it is difficult to believe the truth. The production
involved in creating a show such as ER is long and grueling. Anyone working
a job that required 12-16 hours a day 6 days a week would not find it
unbelievable. The fact is that Sherry did not have time to pursue her own
interest (namely her love). She is a person. A person with feelings and
needs which go far beyond the need to please fans. We should just enjoy the
entertainment that she provided while she was on the show and move on and
allow her to do the same. Thank you.

Sherry Stringfield is currently teaching a dramatic literature course at
SUNY Purchase, and my niece has said two things about her:

1) She swears like a sailor, and

2) She shows up to tech the class intermittently and has the faculty
pissed off at her.

Indeed. Wasn't there a blind item about an ER actress with a
heroin problem?

Two other things about SS:

1. Her NYC love affair ended when her Jewish boyfriend's parents
disapproved of him marrying her.

2. She does not have "the look" for prime time TV.

Oh really? I suppose that's why she was chosen for significant roles,
both incorporating romantic storylines, for two of TV's most acclaimed,
highest rated dramas. You should have such looks.

Didn't she break up with the guy she left the show to be with?

Damn straight! There never has been--nor will there ever be--a more
beautiful woman on TV than Sherry Stringfield.

I read somewhere that she had been involved with Noah Wyle and when they
broke up and he started bringing girlfriends on to the set , she got upset
and decided to quit.

And maybe the producers could bring her back (she was my favorite too) so
she could turn around the Dr. Green character who is an out-of-character
pain in the ass bore since he got beat up. I thought the actor who plays
him was just trying to win an Emmy with the total change in character but
it's the new season for God's sake. Bring back Sherry and have Mark
mellow out. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...

I don't agree. I've known people who suffer from post traumatic stress
syndrome and many of them exhibit traits that make them seem like pains in the
ass. I think he's giving a very convincing portrayal of someone who is living
with the aftermath of a rather vicious beating.

Yes I am, and I'm good at it.

I agree and I see your point. But for pure entertainment value, I want
Dr. Green to get back to the way he was before. I remember when he felt
responsible for his patient, a woman in labor, dying and I felt that was
a better story. I was diappointed in last season's ER as a whole, and
the beating story was just a part of all that.

Farrah's movie career
Kate Jackson's movie career
Shelly Long's movie career
David Caruso's movie career
Joan Collins and "The Colbys"

The history of TV is littered with stars who left hit shows because
they wanted too much money or wanted their own show or wanted to
pursue their movie career full-time. Most of them bombed out.
