NY POST...PAGE 6

IT'S a safe bet that Christina Ricci won't be working with iconoclastic indie
actor Vincent Gallo anytime soon.

Gallo - who co-starred with Ricci in his 1998 directorial debut "Buffalo 66" -
spewed venom about the moon-faced moppet when PAGE SIX bumped into him at
downtown hotspot Luahn the other night.

When we asked if he enjoyed working with Ricci, Gallo growled, "It was OK when
she wasn't drunk on the set. I think she's an alcoholic - it was either that,
or she was on cough syrup the whole time.

"I don't like her," Gallo continued. "She's an ungrateful c- - -. But it was
OK. She's basically a puppet. I told her what to do and she did it."

Gallo also sniped about the voluptuous Ricci's fluctuating weight during
filming: "She lost 17 pounds, and that was because I only let her eat one whole
pizza pie every day."

The actor/writer/director and former Calvin Klein model ranted about Ricci at a
packed party early Friday morning, attended by Oscar De La Hoya, music producer
Rick Rubin, Benihana heiress Devon Aoki (sans beau Lenny Kravitz) and ID Models
mogul Paolo Zampolli, who as usual was accompanied by a coterie of leggy
lovelies.

Gallo, who sat at a table with Rubin, told us that they were teaming up on a
movie about Charles Manson.

"It's called ‘Charlie Manson Sings,'" he said. "I play Manson. Rick is
producing it. It's basically a musical. It's amazing."

As if all that information wasn't enough, Gallo volunteered that he would be
voting for George W. Bush, and uttered an unprintable epithet about Al Gore for
good measure.

"I really hope Bush wins," he declared. "He's a good American."

Ricci, one of Hollywood's hottest young actresses, has starred in "Sleepy
Hollow," "The Opposite of Sex" and "The Ice Storm." She was filming "Pumpkin"
in California and could not be reached for comment.

But Ricci's high-powered publicist, Mara Buxbaum, whom Gallo also singled out
for ridicule in his rant, seemed shocked by Gallo's over-the-top comments.

"I've never heard Christina say anything but nice things about Vincent, so I'm
not sure why he's saying these things," she said.

"As far as I know, they got along perfectly well on the set. I can't even
fathom why he's saying these things. Maybe he's trying to get into the papers."

What a charmer. So, has anyone
ever heard anything else like this about
Ricci? I've never read anything about
her being a party animal--not that that
means anything.

Well, Ricci has been at that precocious, can't keep her mouth shut phase for
the past couple of years. ANyone reading her interviews in Premiere of
Interview magazine can attest to that. I'm sure she probably did clash with
Gallo, but he's insane and I wouldn't necessarily believe anything he had to
say.

Didn't Marilyn Manson say something derogatory about her weight after
she apparently dissed him in an interview? Something about Ricci
needing to make a couple more trips to the salad bar. She's mouthed
off before. And has admitted she doesn't always say the "right"
things. Well, if you can dish it out...

I can just hear it now:

CR: "Your work incites violence in teens and objectifies women, etc...."
MM: "Well---you're fat!"

Ooo, good comeback.

I think it had to do with a comment regarding that people confuse her and Rose
Mc. Gowan (on the street) and she then made some derogatory remark about having
better taste than that or something.

No, I was just making something up for the purpose of a joke. Sorry.
(That's not really what I think of MM either - again, just made something
up.)

Guess I thought the preface "I can just hear it now..." followed by short
dialog was implication enough that I wasn't making a direct quote. Too bad
I have the bad habit of operating under the belief that others have a
reasonably high level of intelligence and actually have some reading
comprehension skills. It's so silly of me for forgetting that so many
people lack the ability to reason - especially when I'm continually reminded
of the facts.

Gee, since my original comment sparked several replies all trying to figure
out exactly how my "quote" was wrong and what exactly MM did say and trying
to set the record straight, looks like I'm not the only one who needs to get
a clue.

That's probably the one and only thing Gallo and I will ever agree on.

Well she shouldn't be. Gallo is nothing but an egomanical freak. His
most convincing performance came as the transvestite bitch in that
horrible FREEWAY 2 movie. He seemed perfectly fitted for that role.
BUFFALO 66, though interesting, was not much more than a wallow in self-
admiration, with the nadir being that thoroughly tasteless scene
involving the gay man in the bathroom. The eptiome of a self-absorbed
jerk that Gallo is.
