I know he was burned by his scars but does anyone know how? I've
googled and found nothing.

I remember reading awhile back that he was scarred during a self-immolation
attempt while protesting the war in Vietnam.

For those who don't know, self-immolation is setting one's self on fire.

On a Something Weird Video special called Pots, Parents and Police, the short
about LSD featured Lynch. He won a Columbia screentest and was all set to go
work Columbia. He decided to celebrate his good fortune by dropping LSD in
central park and set himself on fire.'
Uh, why do you rhink they call it dope!
The short featrured an interview w/Lynch after his immolation where he tried to
scare people straight on dropping LSD.

"According to a mini-documentary about drugs, Richard Lynch had completed a
succesfull screentest for Columbia Pictures in the Late 1960s. Lynch celebrated
the successful screentest by taking LSD and setting himself on fire in Central
park."

I had read this story before. And I still think it is probably one of
the dumbest things an actor has ever done to himself. However, he was
very fortunate in the fact that it did not stop him from having some
kind of reasonably successful acting career....unlike Mark "Want A
Little Cheese with the WHINE?" Hamill.

On a side note, I finally procured a copy of the box set of the First
Season of the original "STARSKY & HUTCH". Richard Lynch was actually
in the pilot episode. But does anybody know why his name was not
listed in the credits?
