Last I heard of BernNadette Stanis who played Thelma was that she got
married and got out of the business. Anyone know whatever happened
to Johnny Brown who played Bookman aka "Boogerbutt"?

No, that was JJ
Just because it's been cluttering up my memory banks
All In The Family begat Maude
Maude begat Good Times
Good Times begat "Movin' On Up" (or whatever it was)
Which in turn begat . . .
Good Times started many A-A good actors on their way, including
Esther Rolle, and John Amos.
I still can't figure who Ralph Carter was, I thought that was
the name of the doorman in MOU? Or, didn't JJ have a little brother?

I saw him on some sitcom last year; I think it might have been Martin.
He looked exactly the same; I almost freaked!

Let me get this straight...the source is the STAR!!!! Has anyone
more reputable reported this?
I'd have a hard time referencing a mag (rag) that reports alien
abductions and pre-pubescent children giving birth.

Usually, I just lurk, but this time I had something to say. :-) I saw
Booger on the Wayans Brothers show a few months ago. He had a crush on
the female security guard (from Amen).

When it comes to celebrities' health problems, the tabloids are 99.9%
correct. (It's too easy to get sued by real people, esp celebs with
the best lawyers money can buy. Who is going to sue over an
alien abduction story?)
If the Star ever says you are dying Cole, I'd suggest that you call your
doctor QUICKLY.

You are absolutely right; that's where I saw him! I didn't remember
because I don't really watch the show, and I watched that one because
I was turning the channel and saw him. Thanks for the clarification.
Actually, All In The Family begat The Jeffersons ["Movin' On Up..."] - The J's
were their next door neighbors
AITF also begat Maude [she was Edith's cousin]
Maude begat Good Times [the matron of the family, Florida, was Maude's maid]
AITF became "Archie's Place" (I *think* that was the name of it) when Edith
dies and Ms. Stapleton left the show
AITF also begat "Gloria", a short-lived sitcom about Gloria after she divorced
the Meathead and worked for a veterinarian.
There may have been another spin-off somewhere along the way, my memory's not
what it used to be. I recall reading last year in TV Guide that AITF holds the
record for the most spinoffs/transmutations of any TV show.
Chris
(Sorry, can't quote with this &%$^*$#%^ server>
Ralph Carter did play the younger brother. He came to the show
almost directly from the B'way musical RAISIN, based on Lorraine
Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN, where he knocked audiences on
their collective butts with a song called called SIDEWALK TREE.
He was probably all of ten years old at the time.
Sorry to hear he's ill. He brought much joy to many.

If by Moving On Up you meant the Jeffersons, that was an All in the Family
spin-off, not Good Times. Ralph Carter played the younger brother
David, saving Damion the trouble of delurking.

There was also a 4-episode Jeffersons spin-off starring Marla Gibbs
(Florence the maid) and Larry Linville, in which she became the
housekeeping manager in a hotel. Some people may consider Archie Bunker's
Place to be a continuation with a name change, rather than a spin-off. It
actually was renamed before Edith died. Jean Stapleton made 4 appearances
during its first year, and was billed as a star, not a guest star, for
those episodes.
David, who didn't date much in high school, for obvious reasons.
No no no. Let's try again:
--- All In The Family begat Maude, which begat Good Times.
--- All In THe Family begat The Jeffersons (their neighbor Helen Willis begat
Lenny Kravitz, but that's another topic). Everytime we move to a new
apartment during the last trip from the old place to the new one we sing the
Moving On Up song. Our little tradition, and also another topic.
--- All In The Family begat some dreadful show with Archie and that little
girl after Edith died.
--- All In The Family begat some Gloria show, mentioned below.
Conrad Bain WAS the neighbor on Maude, married to Rue McLanahan.
Rue was later in Golden Girls, along with Maude actress Bea Arthur, both
playing different parts, which spun off...Golden Palace(?).
Conrad was later in Diff'rent strokes (playing a very different character),
which spun off Facts Of Life --- Remember, Mrs Garrett was their maid until
she moved over to the Facts school with Blair and Tootie and Natalie.
I could go on, but the caffeine rush is beginning to wear off.

It ran for a full season, and according to one book I read, was cancelled
mainly because of the decision to cancel Archie Bunker's Place. Carroll
O'Connor was by this time executive producer of both shows.
A short-lived AITF sort-of spin-off was 704 Houser Street (the Bunkers'
address), starring John Amos of Good Times as a liberal with a conservative
son. The pilot featured a grown-up Joey Stivic visiting the house.
Conrad Bain did play Maude's neighbour, but not the same character he
played on Diff'rent Strokes. The Facts of Life was a Diff'rent Strokes
spin-off though--an unusual case of a spin-off running *years* longer than
it's progenitor.

And let's not forget "704 Hauser Street" which featured the Bunkers House,
starred John Amos (the father in "Good Times" playing a totally different
character) and had Joey Stivic (Mike & Gloria's son) as a character!!

He also had a top 20 hit during his years on Good Times, and had a
second release which didn't do badly. I don't remember the name of
either song right now, but he did go a great job in Raisin.

I was disappointed to see it cancelled after a few episodes. Perhaps it will
give other directors and writers ideas. How about new people living in the
old "Three's Company" apartment? But you'd have to spare any pain to the
new residents by FORBIDDING Jack Tripper from dropping by!!

A hemmie-glemmie is a car engine, usually in collector car, that has
been meticulously maintained and cleaned. It derives from the old
very large cubic inch 8 cylinder, 4-barrel Hemi engines that were in
all the best american made cars prior to the '70s. The glemmie, in
this case, is a slang form of glamourous. So the chrome-plated, steam
cleaned Hemi in your '67 Chevy Impala at the auto show is a
Hemmie-Glemmie.
A double blivvet is a foosball term used to describe the equivalent of
a double ace in tennis. If one of the players scores a goal off a
first hit after the ball rolls on the field its an ace, but if the
player does it twice in a row it is double blivvet. I don't know that
there is a name for a triple as I've never seen one.

i'm NOT a BWD, but in local costuming terms, a "blivet" is a bunch of
"hoodgies" in a decorative form, usually repeated.
"hoodgies" are pearls, beads, rhinestones and other suchlike things.
