Melissa Gilbert Claims Tom Cruise Is Straight And Sex-Mad

Actress Melissa Gilbert has spoken out to crush reports Tom Cruise isn't
sexually inclined - Gilbert insists he's very hot. Gilbert, who dated the
movie star when she was 17 before he rose to fame in Risky Business,
"heartily disputes speculation" that there was no sex in the now shattered
10-year marriage between Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Gilbert says, "I can
honestly say that he's a very sexual person. He gave me butterflies in my
tummy, and there was a lot of making out on the couch in my mom's living
room." The actress, who was once engaged to Rob Lowe, and has also dated
actor Dylan McDermott, says she's now happily married, but she realizes all
too well how anyone can have marital problems. She says, "Like any piece of
fine machinery, a marriage needs maintenance."

Now this is classic overcompensation: a long-ago girlfriend starts babbling
about a man's sexual prowess nearly twenty years after the fact. The lady
protests too much. Sometimes the power of silence wins if not the war, at least
some dignity.

Funny how they don't mention Bruce Boxleitner by name... he's not
exactly unfamous.

I find it most suspicious that a *mother*would confess in public that she had a
sexual relationship with anyone especially at age 17. That makes TC a child
molester and liable for criminal charges.

Is she by any chance a *Scientologist*?

She doesn't say they had sex, although I do think Melissa Gilbert
shouldn't have discussed this. She's doing more harm than good,
trying to defend Tom.

IIRC Melissa Gilbert said on E True Holywood Story her "first time" was actor
Cyrill O'Reilly, her co-star from TV movie remake Splendor in the Grass.
Bet Cyrill really enjoyed hearing that.

It's unfortunate that these nasty rumors have forced Melissa Gilbert
to come forward and disclose more about her private life than she
might otherwise have chosen to do. But we thank her for setting the
record straight anyways.

The world breathes a collective sigh of relief as the elusive Gilbert
*finally* weighs in on the Cruise/Kidman Crisis.

I doubt it. Cruise was born in 1962; Gilbert in 1964. Not much of a disparity
in age....

Jeez, Melissa.

As an underage girl, you looked like a little boy.

And

So, you're defending him by saying 'he can't be gay, he's a child
molester'?????

I can hear Cruise shouting GET OFF MY SIDE

Since when is a 17-year-old a child?
A minor, yes, but not a child. I
mean, I'm pretty sure Gilbert had
managed puberty by then.

Well, still, by California law if she was 17 and he was 19 and they
had sex that would be statutory rape. I'm pretty sure the age of
consent in CA at the time was 18.

take care,

I don't know if the laws were different then, but yes, 18 is the legal age in
CA, however, the parents of a teenager 16 and up cannot press charges without
the minor's concent. And two years wouldn't get ya much anyway. There isn't a
big deal until 7 years different..then it's a felony. I don't know why people
are having such a hang up about 2 years age difference.

'Cept for the statute-of-limitations.

TC should be so lucky, n'est-ce pas?!

Wow. I thought MG was a TAD younger than that.

I don't think it works that way. I think the "perp" has to be over 21.
Otherwise it's just "sexual misconduct" -- although, I don't think it
would even qualify as *that* since the "vic" is over 16.

I can't imagine that consensual sex b/w a 17 y.o. gal & 19 y.o. guy
would be considered criminal under ANY light.

She didn't say they had sex. She said they made out. Melissa Gilbert lost
her virginity to Cyrill O'Reilly on the set of Splendor in the Grass. That
may have been after she dated Cruise.

I don't think that there is a statute of limitations for sex crimes
involving underage minors.

Case in point: there have been scads of cases involving young boys and
older men (many in the priesthood) who bring charges many many years later.

Can't say that I agree with any of them.

The more I read about the Gilbert thing with Cruise, I have concluded that
it is the same type of issue only in reverse. I think I have lost what
little respect I had for her.

Well, IMHO I think anything Tom may have done with Melissa was done out of pure
mercy for the poor girl. She's just so .... yuck!!! So it really doesn't
prove anything.

Just because two people choose not to have sex does not mean one of them
couldn't "perform".
