born with the name Arthur Bean. I know she or he or it has always
talked like a man and is built like a man, or at least a man in drag.
I've been watching Maude lately and have noticed this even more.
"She" seemed more like a man then than even now. Maybe she's adjusted
more since then to acting more like a woman. Another thing is Bea
Arthur doesn't have any children, probably because "she" can't.
Imdb.com says nothing about this. Of course they aren't always
reliable. Can anyone confirm that Bea Arthur used to be a man? When
did he/she have the sex change operation?

Beatrice Arthur is the former wife of the late Gene Saks, breoadway and movei
director. THey were married for a long time, had children and were said to be
very happy. After many years together, they decided they'd be happuier apart,
so they divorced. She is NOT a trannsexual. Sheesh!

OK, OK you got me. I'm the doctor that transformed Arthur Bean into
Bea Arthur. It was a long operation. Arthur Bean was a short guy that
wanted to be a tall woman. After many bone transplants to lengthen
his legs, thats why she always wears those long dresses (to hide the
scars). I finally started on changing him into Bea Arthur. The
problems started when I realized that I couldn't make a clitoris out
of such a small dick. I finally triumphed when I decided to put in a
plastic vagina that I cut from one of those blow up dolls. The only
problem that I know she is having is every time she wants to have sex,
she has to blow up the plastic vagina.
