Atlanta from the mid-1990's until around 2001.
Professionally - He is great at bullshitting people, taking what he can
and moving on. He started a company called RealEstate.com and used his
charm to raise (and steal) a lot of money - millions. He bled the
company to death with his spending on cars, homes, trips, office space,
white women, etc. He lacks an understanding of how to make a business
work, but he can sell - like he's selling his bullshit to Nicole. In
the end the last of the employees were left with no paychecks right

He was basically forced to leave Atlanta because everyone knew he was
full of shit. He used his money to buy favor, usually tipping a
restaurant server 80%. He never finished college and always had a chip
on his shoulder about it. He hasn't had another business since
Realestate.com because everyone knows it would crash.
Personally - His first wife, who is rarely mentioned was a Black woman
who he married because she got pregnant, but when she lost the baby he
divorced her. Next he moved onto nothing but white women, one of the
main reasons was to have beautiful children. He got married again to a
white woman and had twin boys. Soon he was fucking around on her with
plenty of white women including his assistant. He got divorced and
had to use a pretty strong divorce lawyer in Atlanta. The second wife
is living large. Then it was white woman after white woman then he got
one of them pregnant and had a daughter. They moved to Los Angeles and
she called the police because he was beating her. Of course she
changed her mind and they decided to "work it out."
I guess she didn't think that Nicole Murphy and her potential millions
would come along. Alan hasn't been with a Black woman in years. He
has probably burned through a lot of his money, so he needs to find a
new source of income. He has some rich, white babymamas who have no
real skills so they need the dollars. Nicole is the perfect solution.

amazing how any man who dropped out of FAMU could become so successful
in such a short period of time. The Buckhead Penthouse, Ferrari
Modina, BMW 7 Series, Black Ducati and $380k per year salary really
impressed me. I remember when we went to see the Atlanta Hawks play.
We parked next to the players and hung out in the RE.com corporate
suite. While I was stuffing my face with lobster tails, shrimp
cocktail and top shelf drinks, Alan was having his ego stroked by
everyone in the room because he was Mr. RealEstate.com. He made
wearing an all black attire the coolest thing you can ever do.
His spending habits were a little extreme but what do you expect when
investor's give you $60 million. He likes the good life and it's hard
to budget big numbers when you're used to running a small company.
Investors wanted him to take the company public and when he learned
that he could make millions as the founder, he did what he could to
make it happen.
They hired a new president (John Perry), brought in a CIO (Greg
Morrison) and re-organized the entire executive staff. Positions were
being created when there wasn't even a need for. They were setting up
the company to go public so the investors can get their money back 10
fold. As for revenue, there wasn't enough to pay 10 people. 5,000
real estate agents paying $20/month for a website is only $100,000 per
month. That's $1.2m per year. How do you pay 175 employees with $1m?
You pay them with the venture capital that the greedy investors are
throwing at you.
He tried to merge with Homes.com but got into a argument with their CEO
and parted ways. Alan wants things "his" way. (Don't we all?)
Things took a turn for the worst when the stock market tanked in the
spring of 2000. When the layoff rumors started in July then people
should have started looking for a new job. When the first round of
layoffs happened in September then people should have started looking
for a new job. When the contractors stopped getting paid in November
then people should have started looking for a new job. I did.
Alan knew it wasn't going to work so he milked it for what it was
worth. But when you live an luxury lifestyle then you have to learn to
cut back your spending habits. He walked away at the worst time...

He still had his cars, penthouse and a lot of cash. But the penthouse
was foreclosed on this year after he defaulted on loans totalling
$1.5m.

Anyway lets hope she gets a fair settlement in her divorce and that she
doesn't let her new boyfriend get his hands on her and her kids' money. I
don't know much about Nicole but I hope she finds happiness and has a good
life after she's put the divorce behind her. Being married to Eddie Murphy
really can't have been that easy.
