OK, who is Leon? most of you are asking... He is a GORGEOUS Hunka hunka theater
director, actor.... works mostly for Atlanta's Alliance Theatre and co-produced
Elton John's new "Elaborate Lives" ( Aida redeux). Anyway, the world will get
to see Kenny any momento because I heard CNN is doing a special on him.I bet
he may move onto to NY when "Elaborate.." hits Broadway, too...

But MY question --- cutting to the down and dirty here -- is that I hear he is
getting a divorce. Any news from anyone in the know in Hotlanta as to the REAL
reason?

I've heard the standard rumors:
1. he's gay
2. he caught his wife fooling around
3. he was fooling around

Thanks,
Sher

Sher's question re:
>Kenny Leon

I have not been to the Alliance in years but from hearing what some of
the gay men talked at the bank where I used to work, anything
Alliance-related, (as opposed to the Memorial Arts Center), is tres'
gay.

Kenny was only married 4 1/2 years, that related to a great big hmmm in
my eyes...

I have to say that I find this incredibly ironic. I worked at The
Alliance in 1980. At that time the managing director was so homophobic
that it was common knowledge to keep one's sexuality as secret as
possible. I know that it's hard to belive -- for a theatre company, I
mean. But, if you were known to be gay, your job was in jeopardy. This
was so serious that the Artistic Director, who was a flamer, pretended
to be straight by marrying his lesbian stage manager and having a child.
Strange but true.

Glad to hear it's a gayer place to work now.

In article <19981107130058...@ng-ft1.aol.com>,

I doubt seriously that Leon will be leaving Atlanta based on any success
associated with "Elaborate Lives". Disney basically dropped the finished show
on their doorstep at the Alliance Theatre here. In fact, there are alot of
people here thinking they sold out to Disney. I have heard that Disney has
spent upwards to 10 million to get this show on stage. Don't know if that is
true or not but that would be the Alliance budget for about 25 years....

Is this a small world or WHAAAAT?!!
I, TOO, worked at the Alliance in l980 ... of course, I was a mere child (
you can all stop rolling your eyes now, thank you very much)....

Yeah, I remember it as pretty homophobic, too...
