Like many newscasters in the United States, Linden Soles is actually very
much Canadian - something about the neutral accent or something. He was a
television news anchor for a long time here in Vancouver. Cute, but
straight Ithink.

Really? Hmm, I thought someone would have scoffed at such out of date
lingo.

Well I didn't have his sexuality in mind so much but wanted a
mini bio, which you provided. He does not wear a wedding ring (which,
doesn't mean anything...a lot of married men don't)
He seems a little plastic. Like a Ted Baxter with a tan.
And nevermind that hair, look at those suits and ties!!!

Never heard that expression before. If you're asking if he's gay, I
think he's married with kids (not that that is proof of anything in
ASG). Soles used to be a news anchor here in Vancouver. They sure
gave him the CNN makeover when he hit the "big leagues". What the
hell do they keep doing to his hair?

Wow. That is cool. What else?
NO kidding! I had no idea he was Canadian, yet another expatriate on
the American news airwaves. I gather that radio show was in Manitoba
only, since I never heard of it on the network. Or maybe if it was I
just never listened to it.

THAT'S Linden Soles? Oh sweetie, I used to listen to 90 Minutes
*religiously* every week when I was 13-15! I was *so* upset when they
cancelled it and replaced it with some godawful kid's show. So,
*that's* him, is it? Hmmm. Not at all what I pictured as a kid - I
always thought him hopelessly square - he hated rap, AND the Flying
Lizards (blasphemy, in my books at the time) - I figured he would be
about 60 now.

Cool!!! We can tie this thread together with the Thunderbirds live action
thread, and cast him as the father!!! The phrase that comes to me is, "He
looks so lifelike!"

Don't delay a second!! I heard that a live action version of the
Thunderbirds is in the planning stages...not, unfortunately, with Linden
(how many casting coups can we expect in a lifetime?). In any case, the
Baldwin brothers are supposed to play the "ready-to-explode-into-
action-at-at-the-slightest-suggestion-of-a-global-crisis" Tracy brothers.
I suggest Brent Spiner for Brains, a follow-up to his superlative work in
both ID4 *and* Phenomenon (a full three minutes of combined screen time,
can't the man learn to slow down?). I believe the Lady Penelope role
remains, as yet, *uncast*.

Joanna Lumley as Lady P., of course (even though Lady P. looks more like a
blonde Sarah Miles).
Pity those of us who suffered through years of his Gerry Anderson-inspired
visage on local Vancouver news! I can remember vividly all the
supermarionation jokes that went around eons before we shipped him stateside
- his face plastered on the sides of buses - shudder - couldn't escape him.
I wonder just how many children were confused by his obviously non-human
texture?
