SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Actress Tawny Kitaen has filed a $12 million lawsuit
against her estranged husband, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chuck Finley.

In the lawsuit made public Monday, Kitaen accuses her husband of breach of
contract, saying Finley broke his promise to support her financially for the
rest of her life. Finley filed for divorce in April, three days after Kitaen
was arrested for spousal abuse.

The 41-year-old actress, who appeared in the movie "Bachelor Party," was
accused of attacking her husband April 1 as the two were returning home from
dinner. Police said they saw scrapes on Finley's body.

Kitaen pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of spousal abuse and was
ordered to undergo a year of counseling, avoid contact with her husband and
make a $500 donation to a battered-women's shelter.

Finley, 37, was playing for the Cleveland Indians at the time; he's since been
traded to St. Louis.

In court documents filed Sept. 17, Kitaen said that when Finley proposed to her
on Valentine's Day ( news - web sites) 1991, he gave her a Cartier diamond
engagement ring and a key to his home. He soon gave her unlimited access to his
personal bank account and told her to spend away, the lawsuit said.

When Kitaen became pregnant with the couple's first daughter in 1992, Finley
requested she become a full-time mother in exchange for financial support, the
lawsuit said.

Kitaen gave up her career of making $15,000 a week on the syndicated sitcom
"WKRP in Cincinnati" and $22,000 an episode as host of "America's Funniest
People," the lawsuit said. She stopped working full time in 1993.

Kitaen was Finley's nurse and homemaker and managed his day-to-day business,
the lawsuit said. She also boosted his career by lending him her own celebrity,
and even picked out his hair color to burnish his boyish image, the lawsuit
said.

Since filing for divorce, Finley has ignored Kitaen's repeated requests for
money, and seized $4.1 million from a joint personal account, the lawsuit said.

Oh, spare me.

If this was gender-reversed (if he had assaulted her), the lawsuit would
also be flying in the opposite direction.

I'm so tired of batterers.

Uh, yeah, 'cause the shows were CANCELLED.

I suppose she gave up her career of starring in "The Perils of Gwendoline in
the Land of the Yik Yak" or whatever it was called too.

Ooooo, yeah, the whispers of 'look, he married the whitesnake slut, too bad
she's not hot any more' must have really helped.

FWIW, there was new footage of her leaving court on TV yesterday, and it
seems like she got too good a look at her mug shot or her appearance
right after she was arrested, because she looks much better now, almost
back to her original "hot" look. All the better for the inevitable
Playboy or Penthouse spread.

LOL, yeah, I googled TK for a friend that didn't know what we were talking
about - the mug shot (I assume that's what this is) is pretty scary.

And, yes, she's worse than Sharon Stone; I'd say this one is bordering on
'hideous'

LOL! I stand corrected.

Gotta love it when sports figures get into sport illustrated not because of,
oh, I don't know . . . SPORTS, but because of their wives in swimsuits!

How could she "give up her career" if the work dried up?

"Lending him her own celebrity?" The thing she's best known for is being
in rock videos rolling around on cars in her nightie.

I don't think she 'left' either of these shows; they were cancelled while she
was still on them.

As to her 'not working full time' she did those Hercules movies, until they
decided to kill off her character. In fact, IMDB lists a dozen credits for her
post 1993.

What would she have done if her shows had bombed and she couldn't
manage to marry a man with money?

Leech indeed!

My roomie was big into the Hercules movies before it went to a series,
and according to stuff he read on the fan groups way back when, they
partly killed off her character because they didn't want to deal with her
on a weekly basis. Also they didn't want Herc tied down to a woman.
