Last week, one of my fans wrote me to say that ASSTR was down, possibly for good. I decided to keep an eye out both for the website and ASSD.
The good news is that Asstr is back - the bad news is that nothing has changed.
New authors cannot sign up; the only way for established authors is to use FTP to add to their content and that is a clunky way for fans to check out their stories. All the author websites are gone.
I don't know why anyone would post pleas to Rey; who has shown no interest in maintaining Asstr for years. It has been four years since the disk crash; the site should have been long repaired by now.
If Rey isn't interested in maintaining Asstr then he should hand it over to someone who will be interested in both maintaining and updating the site.
Years ago, I was membership secretary for a local car club. I then took sick, and realized that I could not continue - so I resigned and gave the job to another member.

I don't want to get into most of your points but I take exception to the
previous line. The authors' sub-sites are functioning. There are some
people who like using ftp to read the site as they can get off line more
quickly.
