"I do not understand why this is so difficult for you. . . .
Since you are having trouble staying nine years old, I
am demoting you to age three. You are to ask me for
everything, if you want to go outside, if you want a glass
of water, if you want anything at all. I will take care of
you, feed you, bathe you, tuck you in at night. You will
learn to play, and obey and let go of the reins. And
what happens if you are naughty?"
"You will spank me some more."
"Yes, I will. That is a promise. I might demote you
again too. How would you like to sleep in diapers
tonight, little one?"
"No, I would not like to . . . Daddy."
"Then be a good *little* girl and do as I say."
"What should I do now?"
"There are coloring books and crayons in the desk
drawer. Those should keep you out of trouble for a little
while."
"You are smiling."
"You are playing. It's not so bad, is it?"
"No, not once I got used to it."
"Can you draw a picture for me?"
"A picture of what?"
"Whatever floats into your adorable little three-year-old
mind."
"Okay, Daddy."
"What do we have here? This looks like a naughty
picture."
"No, it is not, Daddy. It's a picture of a spanking."
"The girl in this picture is naked."
"Um, she was taking a bath."
"The girl in this picture is not three."
"No, she is a big girl. You said that there is no
naughty girl who is too big to be spanked."
"Yes, I did say that. Why did she need a spanking?"
". . . she didn't take a very good bath."
"She took a bad bath?"
"Yes. She didn't get very clean . . . and she splashed
a lot."
"I see."
"She is a naughty bath-taker."
"Hmm. The man doesn't seem to be dressed either."
"He has underwear on, you just can't see them. . . .
He had to take the rest of his clothes off when she
splashed him."
"Uh huh. He seems to be holding her breast."
"Wellllllll, he had to hold on to something because
she was jumping around a lot. He was giving her a
very hard spanking."
"Oh, okay then. Why is the girl smiling?"
"Well . . . she is so naughty that she likes the
spanking. That is pretty naughty."
"Yes it is."
"Yes, she is a bad girl."
"Then she must not have been spanked enough."
"Nope, she wasn't."
"The man isn't being a very good Daddy then, is he?"
"No, he is a good Daddy. He just gets . . . worried
sometimes. But everything is always all right. He is
a very nice man."
"He is?"
"Yes. Maybe the nicest man ever. He is always
checking to make sure she is okay and, of course,
she is always all right because she is with him."
"And that is the way it works?"
"Yep."
"Hmm. This is a pretty good drawing for a three-year- old."
"Do you want me to make another one? I can!"
"Yes, I know you can, but we've had enough drawing for
now. Why don't you go play?"
"Daddy, there is nothing to do. I don't have anyone
to play with. Will you play with me?"
"What would you like to play?"
"How about we play pretend?"
"Okay. What do we pretend?"
"Let's pretend we are both grown up. You are a man
and I am a lady. Wanna play house?"
