Katoey chasing is not my cup of tea but I'm certainly not offended by it.
I'm not homophobic and in fact some "ladyboys" in Thailand are not
homosexuals but merely do it for the attention it brings. It's part of
ancient Thai tradition when the kings had eunichs as part of the royal
court in Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. Once I met a Katoey bus driver whom I
would not have suspected except for the standard long feminine nails
with the color flaking off. He had a wife and a couple kids. He said
he liked to crossdress at night because the bar he worked at would pay
him a small commission on drinks he garnered from "unsuspecting"
farangs. He said Thai males are extremely jealous of the female
"working girls" in Thailand who can make so much money off the
foreigners. This androgynous looking guy was just trying to support
a family.

In article <JDKFPHM1...@mailexcite.com>, alex...@mailexcite.com says...
There is not any historical document regarding a eunich tradition as
part of the Thai royal courts in Sukhothai nor Ayutthaya.
All personnels of the inner-walled at the King palace were women,
no man and none is eunich.

Beware the Katoey.
If you go to Bangkok and you do happen to indulge in a little night time
activities always ask in a polite way if the lady is a Katoey. I ran in this
problem last time I was in Bangkok, where I started talking to a very attractive
lady (she/he look like Cindy Crawford). I brought she/he a couple of drinks and
she suggestive we go to my hotel room. At is point I was ready to leave with
she/he, when I went to the bathroom and was told she was a katoey. I walk back
to the bar and told he/she that was not interested in going to bed with she/he.
She/he spit in my face( a strong insult in my country) and walk out of the bar,
telling at me.

I've been told that most Katoey will not go up to your hotel room, unless you
want to have sex with a male. I've also been told that some Katoey are petty
thieves that have taken to pickpocket
by coming up and hugging or caress foreign men.

Many katoey's aren't fond of the term, nor are the fond of being recognized as
such. Asking that question to the wrong person is a good way to get popped.

The majority of katoeys have a very cartoonish appearance. You can spot them
from a mile away. They walk wrong, they look wrong, etc. They look "built" as
opposed to "evolved". It's the difference between a woman the way an engineer
would build one (katoey) and a woman the way an artist would.

If you want to tell if she is a he...watch her in front of a mirror....she will
be literally be* IN IT*, looking to make sure she looks good. I have almost
been tricked many times, of course the more beers the easier that can be done.
The feet are a give away...kinda big. Another way I tell is to give them a nice
feel on their legs and arms. Most bar girls get a little touchy feely with men
and you can do the same. If she feels kinda hard..which most katoey's do...
then stay away. God several times I was in love and knew she was a katoey but
couldnt pry myself away from her. But in the long run I of course did.
