There was a front page article in todays AZ Republic outlining story of 2
"johns" appealing 15 day jail sentences. Apparently the current policy here is
15 days for a 1st time offense, no plea bargain and no probation allowed. I've
always assumed it would be a financial headache, but never figured jail as a
possible reality for a 1st offense. If your gonna play in Phoenix be real
careful, I'd stay away from Van Buren altogeather.

Obviously the primary focus is the street scene, but as "internet active" as
the local vice is I'd even be wary of unfamiliar posting or services for now.

Tell me about it, you can run a redlight, shoplift, embezzle funds, write a bad
check or drive drunk (maybe all the above combined) and get less attention from
the local DA :).

I just wanted to clairfy the article you referred to - it seems the two men
arrested for soliciting are suing the city so they can undergo the same
counseling as the hooks. They call it diversion training. It seems they are
claiming that it is discrimation. Not a bad idea! It seems to me that the guys
would go for it more than the hooks since the article says that not many
prostitutes take advantage of this program. I wonder if the money comes out of
the P.D.'s vice budget? Of course, the Phoenix undercover vice decoys never get
in your car... They wear a hidden mic and try to get you to solict them...

Even worse the poor nice guy Dennis that teaches Pleasure massage for
couples with a nice web site at http://www.amassage.com

He has been indicted by the Phoenix Grand Jury for a felony: having a house
of prostitution. That is much worse than a 15 day misdemeanor and all he
does is pleasure teaching for others in private home not in public on Van
Buren.

If it ever goes to court I've offered to be a witness if the attorney wants
to attempt Jury nullification. That is where yes,you committed the crime,
but the law is unfairlly being applied. This seems to work well in Berkley
for example with all the nudity arrests, but no jury will convict so they
have backed off making arrests.

If anyone has any experince or comments about Jury nullification defense
would be interested.

Phoenix vice is looking at internet sites for leads.

BUT beware you are at just as much risk from the hookers stealing from you
as you are from the once in a while decoy cop operations. Most of the
hookers are on drugs and desperate. They could care less about being
arrested. They will be back out the next day. But Johns, they get 15 days
in jail!

When your on drugs you don't feel the 117 !! Hey, but its dry heat here!
Still HOT!

There was a case of Jury nullification here in Atlanta when the owner of a
chain of adult toystores was indicted and tried for "selling sexually
stimulating devices." Whoa! We have nude strip bars every other block, but
you can get arrested for selling dildoes.

Anyway, the Jury found that he was guilty, but refused to sentence him
because they all agreed it was a stupid law! Good for them!

Don't forget, Tony got caught with a lot of stolen computer equipment per the
reports on the TV news and in the papers. They probably have him, but for
what offense?

I think Ken Starr would like to know how to set a president.
