Recently there appeared on CBS Television a new game show called Survivors,
and it has taken the US by storm! The concept is placing 16 strangers on a
deserted island for 39 days. In the end there can be only one, and the
Survivor goes home with a million dollars. The 16 are divided into 2 tribes
and every 3 days one person is voted off the island. Can they survive? Who
will be the toughest?
Well as I have sat there watching this show for the past 2 Wednesday
nights, I have wondered would I have what it takes to eat beetle larvae and
rats; not bath; and deal with all types of people on an island. I have
served in the military; was a Boy Scout and assistant Scoutmaster; done
survival training and love camping. But how would I actually handle it.
Well in the very near future you may the chance to participate in your
very own version of survival. In this very near future our world will become
a place where you must fight to survive. For in this future, earthquakes
will ravage the world, wars, famine, and disease astronomical disasters, and
much more. There will come a time were you will not be able to buy enough
food for yourself, let alone your family. Will you survive?
Everyone is trying to get supplies ready for the time this might happen.
Authors are writing books on emergency preparedness. But wait, I have the
perfect emergency manual for you to survive with. This plan will help you
get through any of these times described. Let's look at the steps for
survival preparedness.
1. Look at the problem
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.
Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our lord
Friends, Our sinful lives separate us from God, who is holy and can't stand
sin.
2. We try to reach God by ourselves
Proverbs 14:12 there is a way that seems right to man, but in the end leads
to death
Man tries to bridge the gap many different ways but each one fails to reach
God
3. God's Way: The Cross
1 Timothy 2:5 for there is one God and one mediator between God and
man, the man Jesus Christ
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once and for all, the righteous
for the unrighteous, to bring you to God
Romans 5:8 but god demonstrated His own love for us in this way: while
we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus Christ, God become man, died on the cross to pay the price for
our sins against God, and bridged the gap between God and us
4 What must we do then?
Acts 3:19 repent then, and turn to god, so that your sins may be wiped
out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord
God doesn't want you to go through His version of Survivor! He wants
you to celebrate with him in peace and happiness in the Kingdom He has
created. What must you do? Admit you are a sinner. Be willing to repent
(turn) from you sins. Believe Jesus died for you on the cross and rose form
the grave. Through prayer, invite Jesus into your life and be lord of all.
