Dear Readers,
Can anyone help me. sci.psychology.psychotherapy used to be a nice
open group where all sorts could go and discuss things with counselors
and therapists. Now a conceited individual anmed aLeslie Packer
(lpa...@nyc.pipeline.com) has made the group unfun and un-welcoming.
How can this be dealt with ?

To All:

It is deeply disturbing that "Xerxes" is posting his garbage over in your newsgroups, which were designed to meet your needs.

"Xerxes" is well-known to the regulars in the sci.psychology newsgroups, and has used upwards of 60 aliases in the last year. At times, he does use hiw own name. At other times, he posts as someone else so he can pretend to have support. He has had his account blocked by net administrators on several occasions for harassment -- including sexual harassment -- and violation of netiquette, including vulgarities, threats, and attempts to intimidate others. He is not beyond trying to find someone's employer and contacting them by phone or e-mail, and has done this on a few occasions.

This man's gripe with me has nothing to do with your newsgroups. I suspect he posted here in the hopes that you would harass me. His gripe with me is that he has engaged in seemingly unethical conduct for a member of the American Psychological Association, and is being reported to them.

As just an example of his harassment and discrimination against people who are not in the "mainstream," he has, on two occasions, described my patients as "retards." I find this extremely offensive.

If you are troubled by his posts, duplicate postings, and cross=postings, I'd suggest you complain to the net administrators about him. Those of us who are used to his b.s. have his real name and address on file.

Again, my sincerest apologies to you all that this man's obsesion with me and harassing me has spilled over to your newsgroups. I wish you all well.

Leslie E. Packer, PhD

(he, of course, being a harasser and an intimidator, didn't dare to sign his real name... right, Brad?)
