The Fetish Fair Fleamarket is the largest fetish/leather event in New
England and might even be the largest event of its kind. Come join dozens
and dozens of vendors for an afternoon of browsing, shopping, and
socializing with leatherfolk, fetish fans, and SM players of all
persuasions. There will be corsets, floggers, jewelry, chain mail, artwork
and photography, restraints, dungeon furniture, Liquid Latex, books,
fetishwear, safe sex supplies, dildoes, whips, and leather, leather,
leather. Raelyn Gallina will be piercing on site at the Grand Opening
booth. (Contact gra...@tiac.net, or call Grand Opening at (617)731-2626
for more info.) There will be another Museum of Sexual Electricity, and
much more to do and see.
Admission is $5 for the general public, free for NLA members and members
of NLA affiliate groups or other leather activist organizations--bring
your membership card or wear your colors! (Members of TES, GMSMA, Boston
Ducks, Female Trouble, Dreizhen, Riders M.C., and others need only show
club ID or colors at the door to enter.)
Admission Rules:
*Only those 18 years of age and up admitted! Please do not bring
children as they will not be admitted and we cannot be responsible
for supervising them.
*No Smoking in the Cyclorama.
*No food or drink in the vending area. (There will be a snack &
socializing area).
*No photography, filming, or videotaping allowed. Press
photographers must register at the door and limit photographs to
individuals who have given explicit permission to have their
photographs taken.
*No nudity. Please wear your fetish wear but abide by the laws
regarding public exposure! (This means cover genitals and female
nipples.)
Volunteers Wanted:
Want free admission to the flea, and possibly some other goodies? I need
people to sign up for the following shifts:
*Set Up Crew 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
*Gopher/Ops/Midway 12:00 Noon - 3:00 PM
*Gopher/Ops/Midway 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
*Break Down Crew 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Set up crew will move tables into position, help vendors to move their
stuff inside, set up extension cords and tape down where necessary, and
generally aid bewildered vendors to orient themselves.
Gophers will do things like deliver lunches to the vendors, run midway
games, dispense raffle & game prizes, act as Camera Guards, operate the
Handicapped lift, and help me solve minor crises as they come up. (They
always do.)
Break down crew will fold and stack tables, bag up the garbage and sweep
the floor.
Perks volunteers have enjoyed in the past have included free gourmet
lunch, free magazines, and other goodies. If you are interested in
volunteering, please e-mail me at ct...@circlet.com with your e-mail
address, telephone number, and what shift you would prefer to work.
Directions to the BCA Cyclorama:
*From Route 93 Southbound: Take Exit #17, East Berkeley Street.
Turn right onto East Berkeley, go to the fifth set of lights, and
make a left onto Tremont Street. BCA will be on your right.
*From Route 93 Northbound: Take Exit #17, East Berkeley Street.
Turn left onto East Berkeley, go to the fifth set of lights, and
make a left onto Tremont Street. BCA will be on your right.
*From the Mass Pike Eastbound: Exit at Copley Square. Turn right
onto Dartmouth Street, then left onto Tremont Street. BCA is one
block down on the left.
*By T: Take the Orange Line to Back Bay or the Green Line to
Copley. Walk south on Dartmouth Street or Clarendon Street to
Tremont Street. Make a left on Tremont. BCA is at #539, you'll see
the glass dome of the Cyclorama.
Parking:
The BCA has "limited" on-site parking for $7 per day. There is metered
parking on the street, and other parking garages 2-3 blocks away.
Accomodations for out of towners:
We recommend two local hotels as inexpensive places to stay. Five short
blocks from the BCA is the gay-owned Chandler Inn (corner of Berkeley and
Chandler Streets) which offers a rate of $89 single/$99 double. Call
(617)482-3450 for more info. Near to the Ramrod and other probably party
locations in the Fenway is the Howard Johnsons at 1271 Boylston Street,
who has rates from $98 single at (617) 267-8300. There are also lots of
nicer hotels in Copley Square. We do NOT recommend that you stay at the
"57 Park Plaza Hotel", (which is also a Howard Johnsons and *not* the same
as the *Boston* Park Plaza). This is one of the hotels that would not rent
function space to our event because we were "inappropriate for a 'family
hotel" like theirs. Let's not spend our inappropriate money there, then!
See you there!
