A Wonderful Weekend in Boston!

This weekend Fetish Fair Fleamarket #7 served as the center of activities
for the BDSM/fetish/piercing communities in the Boston area. Most of us
got precious little sleep, but it was well worth it!

Friday evening there was the Boston RABbit (Rec.Arts.Bodyart) Munch.
There were pierced and tattooed old friends and new friends. Ardvark from
Piercing Exquisite and her husband Dan were there, and we were all
thrilled to see them one last time before they move to San Francisco. PBS
even cooperated by showing a film on traditional body decoration in
Borneo. Many thanks go to Jason, our host for the evening. (Ladies, Jason
has a waterbed! :)

On Saturday, the Fetish Fair Fleamarket at the Cyclorama was packed. I was
told that the total attendance this time was over 1000, with 50 or so
vendors and booths. Ardvark was there doing piercings, and Piercing
Exquisite's booth was booked solid all day with appointments. By 3:00 PM,
she was already booked full for the rest of the day. My erstwhile
companion picked up four 14 gauge captive bead rings to stretch his ear
holes, and spent most of the rest of the weekend shaking his head to hear
them jingle and grinning.

There were vendors at the Flea from all over New England. The Noose from
NYC was there with some wonderful Skin Two latex at reasonable prices.
(Although some of their other items were horribly overpriced.) I
especially liked a black latex zip-front panty with attached peplum skirt
for $160.00. I tried to talk a friend into buying a purple latex corset
with black trim, but she needed to pay her rent. At the table of the local
company Rubber Works I bought a last-one, Flea-special black latex leotard
with zips at nipples and crotch for the amazing price of $40.00. Rubber
Works also does custom work and repairs, and I plan to bring them a torn
bodysuit I have at home. I picked up a collected book of photos from
Secret magazine at the Circlet Press table for $24.95. Later when I
stopped at Efrain Gonzales' table to have him autograph his pages in the
book, he took a picture of me holding the book against my Paul C. leather
corset. Paul C. himself was there, of course. He had a beautiful array of
leather corsets available at the Flea, and was taking custom orders as
well. (I so rarely see him without his trusty yellow tapemeasure around
his neck that I'm beginning to think it's a fetish for him.) I loved the
matching corset and corset collar that he had in metallic silver leather.

Later, I took a try at being hoisted to the ceiling in a chain cage from
Leather By Danny. I felt quite like a bird in the gilded cage, although I
spared the assembled crowd from my singing! :) The Leather by Danny table
also had a rainbow array of very sturdy and comfy wrist and ankle cuffs,
as well as basic black. There was also a lot of interest in their Grip
Cuffs, which are the best functioning standing bondage cuffs I've ever
used. Primitive Leather was there with all the bondage basics you could
ever need and Adam and Gillian had a large selection of inexpensive whips,
canes, and floggers. They did, however, have a whip which consisted of a
brass claw holding a crystal ball as the handle and a fur tail as the
tail. (This was my vote for the silliest whip at the show. :) With all of
the vendors who were selling floggers, flogger shoppers could definitely
find something for everyone at the Flea.

Magical Arts offered massage at their table along with attractive black
t-shirts sporting a silver glitter handcuff design. There were dozens of
other vendors that I haven't mentioned, and even an artist. While his life
sized BDSM and fetish oriented busts were very interesting, the most
notice was given to a 10' abstract bronze sculpture of a man with a 2'
crystal penis. Most impressive!

There were "midway" games to raise money. Spank the submissive, dildoe
ring toss, piercing darts, and Velcro ball toss (sticks to a pretty Lady's
posterior) were only a $1.00 a try. Between the midway and admission, the
Flea raised $1000.00 for the legal defense fund for the Houghton's, the
New York couple who have had their children taken away from them because
of their private, consensual SM activities. A very worthy cause indeed.

The cash machine outside the Cyclorama was very busy all day as people
found things they just couldn't go home without. We all are looking
forward to the next Fetish Fair Fleamarket before Christmas. I certainly
will be there with my Christmas list - I know who's been very naughty.

Saturday evening was the post-Flea Instant Gratification party at ManRay.
There was plenty of bondage furniture available for open play use and a
lot of people took a try. The rotating X-frame was especially popular.
Models in stunning fetish outfits circulated through the crowd and danced
on platforms. A beautiful young woman and an equally beautiful young man
were wrapped to a pole in Saran Wrap and suspended from the ceiling. There
was a demonstration of flogging technique by Boston professional
dominatrix Lady J., a demonstration of foot worship by a Mistress who's
name I have unfortunately forgotten, and a demonstration of mummification
by yours truly. The officers of the New England Chapter of the National
Leather Association presented the donation check to the Houghton's, who
were very touched by the generosity. DJ Chris spun the records and
everyone danced the night away.
