Well, it's meant as an anti-theft measure as well as a child safety measure
(according to the manual), so you may be stuck trying to guess the code
(nasty job!) unless some Pfaff technician knows a back door to get around
the code. I'd suggest calling your local Pfaff dealer to find out if there
is such a thing. (I'm presuming, since you "inherited" it, that you can't
just get the code from the person who put it in.) If you do have to guess,
I'd expect all the letters in the code to be close to either the beginning
or the end of the alphabet, because I just can't imagine somebody paging
through a letter at a time to input something in the middle every time they
turned on the machine. It would be too much of a pain in the neck!

Here's what the manual says about the code:

To enter a code (what started your mess!): Turn on the machine while
holding down the key that says "memory". The display will read "CODE 000"
Use the buttons under the zeros to choose letters of the alphabet to be your
code. For the first letter, you'd use the stitch width buttons, with the +
key taking you to the next letter and the - key taking you to the previous
letter. From your starting "0", pushing the - key once takes you to the
letter z. The second letter is controlled by the stitch length buttons, and
the third by the balance/pattern length buttons. When you've entered the
code you want, press the key that says "display". You now have a code.

To turn on the machine with a code entered, you turn on the machine, get
"CODE ???" and use the same buttons to enter the code, then press "display"
and it lets you sew. If you enter the wrong code, it shows "CODE ---" and
you have to switch the machine off for about five seconds before you try
again. (Bet you knew that bit already!)

To change or erase the code, turn on the machine, enter the code, press the
"memory" button. The display says "CODE 000". Enter the new code and press
"display". If you leave it as "CODE 000" (and then push "display"), there
is no code necessary, and all you have to do to use the machine is turn it
on.

It sounds like you don't have the manual--I'd suggest you get one. Check
with Pfaff first, but if you absolutely can't get it from them, I'd be
willing to copy it for the price of copying & shipping. You'd rather have
the original, though--there are 214 pages, with foldout diagrams in the
front & back cover, and two plastic templates to help you correctly place
the oversize monograms and embroideries on your fabric. Oh, and do you have
the the Creative Designer accessory? If so, that's a separate (though not
nearly so long!) manual. (My machine is the 1475CD--I presume the CD means
it's either compatible with or comes with the Creative Designer unit--mine
came with it.)

Good luck! I'd be interested in hearing how it turns out!

I don't know anything about the Pfaff machines and their codes, but a
friend was telling me that students at the school where he teaches reset
the passwords on the computers and everyone was locked out of the
computers. They finally resolved the problem by removing and then
replacing the batteries that maintained that kind of information when the
power was off. I don't know if the Pfaff would have a similar setup, but
it seems possible. If the battery isn't soldered in, it might be worth a
try. On the other hand, I have no idea what other info you might lose in
the process. Does anyone else? Maybe you could run the idea past someone
a great deal more knowledgeable than I am.

There is a battery in the bottom of the machine to try and remove.

The manual has instructions on pages 34 -36 on how to add, remove, and change
the safety code. Hold the "mem- (b/l)" while turning on the power switch.
This will erase all memory, including the M- and P- memories, but you won't
have the code to deal with, either.

Hi Howard and Kelly,
I like you have inherited a PFAFF 1475 CD and have no idea what the 3 letter code is. I realize you posted your message quite a while ago. Did you ever find a solution to the code. Both the suggestions from the reply to your post did not work for me and I have tried every possible code I thought my sister would have entered into her machine. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. If you receive this please email me your response to tdem...@gmail.com. Thanks for your help. Regards, Tina

Seriously old thread!

Did you try the method suggested in a post a few (years) prior to
yours?

Turn machine over and take out batteries.it takes at least 2 hour to rest. However overnight is preferred. Turn machine and you might get a "battery" message. Just ignore it. Hope this helps.

My grams gave me her Pfaff creative 7550 and all you need to do is hold down the menu button and switch on the power and it bypasses the code. There is probably a way to switch it after your in I’m just lazy and continue to do it this way haha.
