I bought several yards online of black-and-white geometric
print. I hoped to make a summer jacket with it. However,
it turned out to be shirting-weight. That's one of the
difficulties with buying online. :-(

I could just make a shirt, and put the excess in the
stash... Then I had a thought: Might it change the hand
sufficiently if I underline every piece with fusible knit
interfacing? I did a small sample, washed and dried it, and
liked the result. So I just cut out the jacket, and bonded
knit interfacing to each piece, and I'm ready to assemble
tomorrow.

:-)

Hah, I did something similar not long ago: I had a blue polar fleece top
without sleeves and wanted to finish the edges with bias binding. However, I
couldn't find anything in my stash that looked good and I hated to go out
and buy something new (OK, I didn't really hate it but I wanted to economize
a little). The only fabric that was just perfect was some polyester lawn. In
the end I stabilized it with a soft fusible Vilene and it worked perfectly.

I can't wait to see pictures of your black-and-white geometric print shirt
and jacket (and the nifty details like buttons, pockets etc. ;-))
