hello!

i'm thinking of buying a nice computerized machine with embroidery
capabilities, and I was hoping to get some words of wisdom. :-)

Right now, I've only seen the Singer XL1000. It looks nice, but I've
heard on the grapevine that Singer machines aren't too reliable :-/ Is
this true of the top level machines like the XL1000 as well, or are they
better quality?

Some others I've heard are good choices are the Pfaff 7570, the Viking
#1+, and Elna (not sure of the model - 7000 or so, is that it?).

How do these compare, does anybody know? Are there others I should be
considering? I'd really appreciate any advice!

tia!

I belive these top Singers are made by Brother... and very good. I have a
New Home that is computerized but not embroidery. I love it! You have to try
them out. I just saw Vikings Designer1 in person 2 weekends ago. wow. WOW it
was very impressive. Christina

You may want to head over to Sears. They sell the Kenmore 19000, which is
essentially the exact same machine as the Memory Craft 5000 (the Kenmore is
even made by Janome). All the Janome cards and accessories are usable on the
Kenmore, because they're really the same machine under a different name. It
also costs less than the 5000, and you can use a SearsCharge if you have one. I
believe Sears is also having a 0% interest until August deal, and you have 30
days where you can take it back for whatever reason. Their last sale had the
machine at $200 off retail...you may even be able to haggle it down if it's not
currently on sale.

Anyway, at least you can go take a look, and play with the machine hands on to
see if you like it.

(I don't work for Sears, I just happen to have gone and done this last week!)
