Current administration is.
They are prepared to blame greedy oil company executives ;)

All Bush's fault! Zero raised taxes, and prohibited
drilling. So the price of oil went up. It's all Bush's
fault, in any case. Yep, that's what they will say.

Yabutt, go back a couple of years. Some of the Democrats were saying
gas needed to be higher and Obama was saying he planned to put the
coal industry out of business.

So who do you blame? All those freedom and democracy loving people of
the middle east who are speaking out against their totalitarian right
wing dictators? I guess you think they should just shut the fuck up
so that you can have your cheap oil, right? Better yet, if you get
lucky perhaps said right wing dictators will slaughter thousands of
those evil "leftists" and you will get to see a bloodbath. Wouldn't
that be fun?

How about, open up Anwar, allow off shore drilling, approve nuclear
power plants, for a few starters?

If you did that, and rolled back some of the
burdensome regulation. You might see
prosperity in the USA again. Return to the
1950s with single income families, big cars,
and inexpensive gasoline. Oh, be sure to build
several more refineries while you're at it.

Those two items go very well together. If you are a
liberal - progressive - socialist. All part of the Oh Bomb

I dunno, they might make a case against Sarah. She wants to drill ANWAR,
and the Saudi king would hand Obama his ass on a stick.

Nuclear can give us all the electricity we need. A side benefit to
nuclear material is that it can separate hydrogen from oxygen giving us
all the fuel we could burn from the water passing through the core at
the same time. At Three Mile Island they had lots of hydrogen in the
metal building during the meltdown, and had to vent it.

So we drill in Nebraska where there is more oil than in the middle east.

Not the old shale oil bullshit?

And why do you think shale oil is bullshit?

I mean - since I know it isn't bullshit at all - having worked on
quite successful shale oil projects.

I don't know who you have been listening to - but what they are

It can be - and is being - done using essentially the same technology
as has been used for decades - reinjection into some wells and pumping
out from others. The key is what is being reinjected.

The other crap is being pushed by the clowns that want the US to
continue to buy huge amounts of oil from enemy states. There is plenty
of oil in the US and Canada if the f**king government gets out of the
way.

There are different types of shale and different methods of extraction.

Considering the cost of drilling oil, with crews, equipment, etc., shale oil
costs can be competitive.

The main reason it isn't done here is political.

Here's some technical info.
