Newbie needs Some Advice

How about this for another take on the problem:

I've known this girl for a couple years, and for the last year or so, we've
been talking about things - just like you suggested. I can tell you, it sure
works! After she heard about my problems with other women (especially how I
was treating them) she became rather dissatisfied with her current
relationship. Now she's unattached, and interested in me.

The problem here is I find that in this particular case, I'm actually
interested in a friendship, more than anything else. I could have her easily
(she's said so, extremely bluntly in fact), but I no longer want to pursue
that type of relationship.
Any thoughts?

BTW - as I said, what you suggested in the previous response actually worked
here, and that was without knowing what I was doing! - it certainly gives you
some credibility in my eyes...
