Exactly. Take the proper precautions, and you reduce the risk to a
point where it isn't a concern for you.
The only 100% foolproof way to avoid getting HIV is to never exchange
any body fluids with someone else .. be it sex or blood transfusion or
sharing a needle if you're a drug user.
Any exchange of fluids exposes you to a risk. But transmission rates
aren't even 100% when you engage in unprotected sex with a high-risk
group.
And HIV isn't the killer it once was. Treatments are allowing
HIV-positive patients to live relatively normal lives, and even father
healthy HIV-negative children and raise families.
HIV concerns me, but it doesn't scare me. I protect myself, and
continue on with my life without obsessing about getting sick.
