I'd be happy to.
from McKnight/Phillips' "Love Tactics," page 71: "In your quest for
love and devotion, then ... Communicate your intentions ... to the one
you want, and convey your intention to do it alone, if necessary. Such
an attitude will inspire the one you want with desires to follow and be
with you."
and again on pages 98-99: "Every salesman knows that in order to get a
customer to buy, there has to ultimately be some sort of urgency
element in the decision making process. Never a message of "whenever
you get around to it, it'll be here waiting for you ..." but "if you
don't buy today, you may not have the opportunity tomorrow." The
psychology of selling is especially operative in romance ... The
message you have to convey is "It's now or never!," and you have to
reinforce the impact of this message by letting the other person
experience a little bit of what life without you can be like."
The authors continue with a story about a woman who was deeply in love
with a man who wouldn't make a commitment to her. She informed him that
she was moving away to another city and accepting a job offer there.
This show of independence unnerved the young gentleman, who ended up
proposing to the lady one week later, "But if she hadn't shown her
ability to drop him cold and go her own marry way, they'd probably till
be hanging out there in limbo to this very day!"
"Love Tactics" has a copyright of February 10, 1988 and is published by
Avery Publishing Group.
