Does any one know of a back door or default method for this panel? I
can get in to a 5207, but havn't got the 5820 yet. I did find that it
takes up to 9 digits for a code but if you press 9 eight times it says
ENTERING MY MAIN for about half a second. I had to do this many times to
figure out what it was saying cause it was soo fast. I asked tech support
and thay said it must be a glitch.

You already know that the default code is 5820, right? There doesn't seem
to be anything in the 5820XL manual about a way to get past the installer
code if you don't know it.

Regards,
Robert

None that I know of. Only thing you can do is get a new chip from Silent
Knight and start from scratch again. You might want to try a laptop locally,
see if you can get in that way.

I can chip swap on the 5207 to get in, but there is no chip removable on
the 5820. I'm almost positive silent knight has a back door, but are
keeping tight lipped on it. I also think they have a backdoor account
and password for dailup or direct connect laptop access. I can directly
read the 5207's eeprom and get the installer code, but havn't done much
chip identifying on the 5820 to even see what chip might contain the
eeprom info and the installer code. A co-worker has a device you hook
up to a dsc pannel's keypad port and it guesses at codes till it finds
it and sets it back to default. I was thinking of this type of attack
on the 5820 through the local serial port. If it works it may take some
time, but it couldn't be as bad as pulling down the panel and sending it
to Silent Knight and paying them $200 to unlock it (as there tech
support said had to be done).

They do have a backdoor code and some companies knows the code.

Wait a minute.

I'll see if I can time travel back to 2003 and let them know.

Yeah ------ So ------ I went back there and Robert was trolling Satin.

Satin said he was thinking of abdicating his throne to Robert and returning to heaven.

Aah Mark,
I think that Jim may have figured it out by now.
He typed that back in May of 2019. LOL
Then again maybe he was just having a bad day!! :-)

Glad to see this thread still alive... Trying to break into an EVS and stumbled across this topic...

Any one have any luck with backdooring these 5820s? I know the "magic code" above, but it seems very hit and miss. I also know there is a jumper/ power cycle back door for the 5208... There has to be one for the 5820

Really?
You really think that you can come to this or any alarm group and ask for a way to access an alarm panel and someone is going to just pop right back and tell you how to do it?

You really believe that?

Well then, let me make an offer to you about buying some property down in Florida. It's a project that's "underway" and you can get in on the ground floor.

Interested?
