I have a DSC832 panel and am looking at the software options...

I see that I have a PC5010 V2.0 and also the keypad LCD5501Z V2.1

On the DSC website I see a list about a mile long of drivers etc... my
question is:

Can I upgrade the software on the panel to V3.0 which I have seen mentioned
here, presumably by downloading an update?

and then also, is there a specific flavor of the DSC software for
communicating with this version of the 832 panel?

thanks
Michael

Nope. You have to buy a version 3.0 board. The upload/download software
doesn't allow you to update panel firmware.

The latest version of the DLS software will communicate with all versions of the
panels. Any new versions they introduce will result in a software update to
enable communications with them.

You can also contact DSC tech-support.

Hi Michael,

You can upgrade the DLS software on your computer if you like. Using it
will not make your alarm more current though.

I thought the 5010 only went to 2.0.

There is documentation and a DLS202 patch for a PC5010 v3.2 although I have
yet to run into one, if you recall I asked you about a new version while I
was in San Diego

It follows the CP-01 SIA standards although I didn't look at it enough to
figure out what differences it has

I haven't seen on either. I was under the impression they stopped at the
5010 V2. The 1555MX and 5020 have newer features though. Could the 5010 V3
be for a foreign market?

Possible, I never did understand tho why they never updated the 5010 with
some of the MX features like auto CID. They seemed to have done nothing with
it since 1998

They did upgrade it, it's called the 5020 so they can raise the price.
