I have a DEI alarm system but it's under a different name. The case has
"Auto Security Systems 755T" on the label. I found it at a garage/tag
sale & it looked as if everything was there so I got it. It turns out
that it works just fine after I got the wiring harness figured out (with
a little help from DEI's cool online installation guide). The harness is
quite different from anything I found at DEI's site but they generally
followed the same color codes. The motion sensing module & door lock
module both have 5 wires & are mounted in clear plastic cases. I'm
guessing the harness was a custom one for a specific make/model as a few
conductors were left out. I found the dome light circuit & a channel 3
(buttons 1 & 2) circuit that were missing wires in the harness. Really
LOTS of jumpers to get one of these things working on a test bench! It
would be nice if someone knew of a site on the web where I could find a
little more info on this but it's doing just fine as it is :)

My biggest question is about getting another remote or pair of remotes
for this. It only has 1 remote that looks like a Viper remote but
without the name. The remote & the control module both have a small tag
with a matching 4 digit number followed by a letter. Internally both the
remote & the control module have a group of pcb traces labeled 1 thru 10
with a few of them cut. These must be the programmed code. Are
replacement remotes availiable for this at a reasonable price? I don't
like the idea of just having 1 remote - just in case. I guess if I could
find any remote for this model I could program my code into it? Any
ideas?
Thanks - Kim - b...@maco.net

You can get a remote from anyone that sells DEI's stuff
under the names: StealStopper; Viper; Hornet. They are
all the same. They did that so people close to each other
could compete. Neat idea. I used to install their stuff.

Thats kinda what I wanted to know. I 'll check some of the local shops & see
what they are getting for them. I only paid $5.00 for the whole unit & don't
want to spend $40.00 just for an extra remote! I may install it with just 1
remote - but then if it becomes defective I would be :(

You should keep in mind that not all our remotes/CPU's use the same
frequencies or coding system. That 755T (from our Hornet line) used the
old 465T transmitter, a binary scratch-coded two-button 302 mHz unit.
Our 493 and newer aren't going to work either because of coding changes
or frequency changes.

Kim I think I can help. Your alarm is a Hornet and that is DEI the remotes you
need are part #465T. If you have a Circuit City near you they should be able to
help you get the remote you need. And those trace's 1 - 10 need to be cut on
the new remote to match your old remote and you must be very carful when you do
that. hope this helps you.... David

Hi Kim,

I know this post is old, but am looking to find this guide. Any chance you can post the location?

Thanks,
Charles
