Radio Shack is experiencing a shortage in components and is packaging
and selling their brand name equipment without all of the necessary
components...

In December of 1999 I purchased a Radio Shack 4-channel security monitor
(#49-2511) from my local Radio Shack. Upon opening the package at my
office I discovered that the product only contained 2 monitor cables (4
cables are necessary to complete the 4-channel system). No where on the
box does it state that the product requires 2 additional cables to
complete the 4-channel system.

I was told that I could purchase the 2 additional cables (#12216750) at
my local Radio Shack for an additional $13.89 each, but when I tried to
do so I was told that they do not have them in stock... in fact, I was
told no Radio Shack in America has them in stock.

Upon calling Tandy customer service the local Radio Shack clerk was told
that I could order the cables from their warehouse, which I promptly
did.

When the cables did not arrive within the 7-10 days that I was told, I
called Tandy customer service to find out why they were delayed... I was
told that the necessary cables are NOT EVEN IN STOCK AT THEIR
WAREHOUSES, and that the cables would be shipped whenever The Tandy
Corporation receives them, which, I was told, will not be until sometime
near the end of February, 2000.

The $800 worth of equipment that I purchased from RADIO SHACK in
December of 1999 is useless to me without the two cables that are
necessary to make the 4-channel security monitor function as a 4-channel
security monitor.

You could likely have a comparable system professionally installed in that
same price range. (and it would be in stock!)

Are you kidding me Bruce? A four channel system, installed for
$800.00? In whose universe? It certainly would be more in my
universe. Somehow I doubt the equipment could be purchased wholesale
would cost close to that much.

I know it's a little late but you should have checked here first. You didn't
really expect to get quality product from Ratshack ........ did you? It's ok
for toys and standard minor electronic hardware. But anything else is simply
for the unaware novice eletronic hobbyist and kids.

May be a dumb question but here goes.....

Why didn't you simply return the whole pile once
you discovered the above and get a real system?
Even now you're probably within 30 days......

Well that is what you get for takeing the cheap way out, I would never ever
recomend that someone use a RADIO SHACK alarm, They are toys, GEt ahold of some
real equipment before you ahve more problems and waste more money
