Which DSC panel has a faster communicator? DSC is notorious for slow
communicators and molasass like downloading speed. The one execption
is the PC 1575 with PC Link. You can download the panel in 25
seconds. But I say big deal. Paradox panels will download over the
phone in 40-50 seconds. Event buffer another 20-50 seconds depending
on panel and version (Paradox 748 version 3.0 is a little longer, but
then again, it is 255 events and it downloads faster than Power 832
and it's 120 events)

The Paradox line is superior to the "Classic" line of panels from DSC
(PC 1000, 1500, 1550, 2525, 2550, 3000). The Power 832 is not a bad
panel, but the Paradox still has many advantages, although the 832 has
options not yet available on the Paradox. But as a straight out of
the box security alarm, the Paradox 738 and 748 are better than any
DSC low end panel.

Have you ever tried the Espload software? Makes the DLS-1 and even
the DLS-2 look like Vic 20 software. Espload provides on line voltage
levels, graphics screen with devices (OK primitive, but better than
nothing), ability to print keypad labels, programming verification,
etc, etc..

Maybe you should take some time an really investigate the POWER of the
PARADOX.

The DSC systems, like all modern alarm controls except those from ADT,
can be programmed to communicate in all of the major formats. It is
abosolutely false to claim the DSC units are faster or slower. Point ID,
Sescoa, etc., are standard communications formats and any unit that
communicates at faster or slower baud rates or has longer or shorter
dwell times (tone on v tone off) will be dropped by the receiver. Since
the DSC systems can do Point ID and SIA (the most advanced reporting
formats), your claim about DSC communicators being slow is untrue.

As for downloading, this is only performed when a the instalation is
completed and later when a change is needed. A five minute wait vs a one
minute wait is of no consequence for downloading. By comparison, the
massive Napco MA-3000 (when fully configured) can take 10 minutes to
download if you don't set your options correctly. The Moose Z1100E takes
about 5 minutes. But this has little or no impact on the client since he
only cares about functionality and usability of the system.

I do wish you could come up with some solid facts instead of constantly
claiming Paradox is "superior" or saying it "blows this or that panel
out of the water." So far you have not offered a single provable
advantage to the Paradox.

How does the ability to print keypad labels benefit anyone who has even
the most rudimentary word processing software? And how does this benefit
the end user anyway? On-line voltage level readings from the premises to
the tech support department are nice (if accurate) but if I need to do
panel diagnostics I just whip out my Fluke digital multimeter and get
the voltages, resistances, etc., on the spot. Since the readings will
vary as I trouble-shoot the system it is essential to do diagnostic work
on premises.

These sound like nice "whistles and bells" on the ESPLOAD software, but
how is the Paradox panel so superior to everything else? So far you
haven't convinced me, friend. Facts, please.
