I purchased home 3 years a go with a Moose Z1100 System II installed.
I finally got around to seeing if I can get it up and running, however
the manual with the codes written on it, from the previous owner, has
since gone missing.

I was able to download a copy of the users manual, but I'm having
problems programming a new access code.

When I power up the system, the power, interior on, and delay lights
come on.
Then when I enter the default installer code 998765 I get 2 beeps and
all the LED's begin to blink. (The user manual claims I should get 4
beeps, and doesn't say anything about the lights).
Then, when I begin to prgram a new user code by entering 1124680, all
the lights go out after the first 1, and the control pannel appears to
shut down.(The user manual says I should get 3 beeps).

Figuring the installer code may have been changed I tried resetting
it. So I powerd down the system, held down the program switch, and
powered up. This caused all the lights on the control panel to start
blinking. Then I entered 5998765 which again caused all the lights to
go out, and the control panel to shut down.

I've tried four or five different ways, that I've found on the web, of
resetting the installer code but none of them seem to work, or if they
did, I can't tell that it worked.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know if this applies to your system, but I have found that after a
few years some Moose Z-1100 panels won't allow an installer code beginning
with a 9. Try another code like 55555 to see if that helps.

For system 2 do the following:
Power switch off
Hold in Prg switch
Power switch on
all Leds flashing
press 1 then #
enter 3 digits and 2 "0"s (this creates a 4 digit entry)
lights return to flashing
enter * key twice

Your Arm/Disarm code is now 1 followed by the 3 digits you entered.

To restore the program code to 9-98765:
Power switch off
Hold in Prg switch
Power switch on
all Leds flashing
Enter 10 followed by #
Enter 98765 (Notice command 9 is not entered twice)
All leds may return to flashing
press * key twice.

The phenomina that prevents 9 from working occurs only on system I
If 2 digit arming is enabled and the first digit of one of the four user
codes matches the first digit of the program code, then the progam code is
locked out.

This is a little known, undocumented feature that David created which
allowed the installer to lock out the program code when a user got "too
involved" with the system. If 2 digit arming is not selected, the same
results will occur if a user code is programmed to be the same as the
program code. Even though the command digits (1 for arm/disarm and 9 for
programming are different.)

Thanks! I always wondered why some of my panels wouldn't let me back in.
