I'm having a problem trying to program the Download ID number (or CSID)
into my Ademco Vista-50P (Field *36). When I try to read it with a
#36 I get nothing displayed but -36 with 3 beeps. I can program in
a value, but still get nothing back when I try to read it. I'm trying to
get the Compass download software operating with my system. So far no
luck. I'm computer and electronics literate, so I don't think that's the
problem, but I must be doing something wrong, as I haven't been able to
establish a connection between my computer and Vista-50P yet. The
Vista-50P hangs up on the computer, probably because the ID info
doesn't match. Any ideas?

For security reasons, you are not allowed to read out the CSID from
the panel. You can change it, but you can't view it. This prevents
someone from viewing another dealer's CSID, and then using the
info to access the accounts remotely.

When the computer hangs up it will give a message and that message should
clue you in. Are you PC or Site initiating? Are you choosing 1st
communication or not? If 1st are you checking acct# in panel or not? All of
these things play a roll in initiating a succesfull communication link.

If the panel hangs up upon first connection then the account number in
Compass does not match the account number in the panel, if the connection
goes through and the panel calls back THEN disconnects the CSID number is
mis-matched

what you need to do on your Vista-50 is program section 36 as 15 15 15 15
etc, then what must be done is connect to the system, have it call back, be
sure to have the "First Communication" set to yes when it calls back but NOT
when your originally calling the panel.

(what you do is after calling the panel disconnect and set it back up to
receive a call from the panel, its a pain with Compass but it will work)

Not necessary in Compass all you have to do (if *36 = 15 - 8 times) is say
1st communication yes, then check acct number in panel box. The procedure
you are referring to was only necessary in Vlink. The only other thing you
have to have correct is download without call back (1*53) has to be the same
in panel as it is in software. Also make sure you have the correct modem
(acceptable modems are listed in manual) and the latest version of software
(1.2.2.1).

yes enter the csid number in the windows downloader. it will automatically
be added to the panel when you do a first time connection..
