Hello, I just obtained the DLS-2 Ver 1.2 software to download into DSC
panels. I read the manual and a modem seems to be required to connect
to the panel, (to call the panel, or to have the panel call the pc).

I read with interest the thread about the DLS-1, and since neither the
installation manual for the power 832 nor the Download software make
reference to a direct connection between pc and panel, I would like to
know the pinout of such cable, and how to initiate the call then.
I read that Jim Rojas will try to obtain the pinout, but I also need
the termination points in the panel, and how to initiate the
upload/download.

Rather than make your own cable, why not just purchase one from DSC.
They're very inexpensive. The part is called a PC-LINK9. I also have them
for sale on my web site for DIY'rs.

Hello all

Correct me if Im wrong, but I didn't think the DLS-2 software was compatable
with anything other than the Maxsys PC4010 system. To initate the cable link
in DLS-1 software. Select enable PC-Link under the F3 key. In DLS-2 select
options, Modem Configurations, check enable PC-Link at the top. Im looking
forward to the pin-out and wiring schematic on the cable too.

Take care
Tim

Thanks a lot Mark, I guess it is time to upgrade my panel.
My power 832 is ver 1.0, and I just bought another one for a friend,
ver 2.0. Sure enough, the local download plug is there and so is
programing field 499. I just have to swap cpus and program my system
all over again, I have the escort module(w/X10), and the RS232 module.

thanks for your response
Arnold
