Hello,

I have a FBI STAR XL4600 system installed in my house, and I've decided
to have it monitored.

One problem: I have three dogs who love to eat paper, and a couple years
ago they managed to eat 99% of the install manual for the system. I have
the users guide still, but this doesn't help me much. I don't know the
install code, nor do I remember how to get into install mode if I can
find the code.

The monitoring company says this system can be monitored, but they will
need the install code first.

What're my options? I'd prefer not to have to reset the entire system
and redefine my zones.

Thanks,
Ian

Press the "CODE" button, then "*", then 4600.
Thats the default program code.

To exit programming, press the "interior" or "Stay"
button.

If you changed the factory installer code when the system was installed and now
you don't remember what it is ...... you don't have any choice but to default
the entire panel and reprogram from scratch. VERY simple to program. has about
16 locations in the programing list. Takes about five minutes to do.

Also .... some one on this NG is always advertising Manuals for alarm systems.
If you watch for a while you'll catch it or perhaps someone else remembers the
name or theWebsite. They may be able to send you a reprint of the installation
manual. Or you can always call FBI .... which by the way is now owned by Pitway
(ADEMCO) and can be reached at 800 645-5430.Ask for customer support (NOT
technical). Tell them you're a dealer and just need the installation manual for
the XL 4600 Make up an alarm company name for them to send to.

The PC Board is equiped with two diodes with "default written on it.

To default the entire panel if installer and CSID codes is not known
do the following:

Power down panel.

Push diodes together to create short.

Power up panel with shorted diodes and wait for about 5 secods.

A click will be heard and the panel is then defaulted to factory
settings.

Power down and undo shortcircuit.

Power up, now you would be able to program again from scratch

Hoping this would help.

The XL4600 is not a downloadable panel. Therefore, no lockout code just an
installer code which defaults to 4600.
