Went to our business and the alarm was not beeping when I opened the door. I
went to te key pad and it said comm. failure.

The security system failed to send a signal to the monitoring center.
Most alarm systems will try 8 times before displaying this message.

You might want to contact your alarm company and have them run some
tests. You might have phone line problems.

To answer your direct question it means communication failure.
