Does anyone know how to reprogram an Acron Alarm System Model Spartan VI -
SP-6. We are selling the house and do not have any of the paperwork that came
with the alarm system. We bought the house and the old owner showed us how to
program it, we forgot, that was six years ago. We have never used the alarm
system so as to remember how to program it.

We talked to two different alarm companies, ADT and Global security. Neither
knew how to reprogram it. It will cost us over $400.00 to replace. The
company that made the alarm is out of business.

Anyone out there know anything about this alarm, or has a manual.

If possible, could you email me with the results, but I will also check here
for replies.

Thanks,
Rick

$400 to replace an SP-6? Your kidding right?

The SP-6 is outdate, but even compared to it's
contemporaries it is a cheap panel. A modern
panel the same size has many more programable
features and should not cost $400 to replace.

I think you should call a local based alarm installer
I am certain that you could get somebody to put in
a NAPCO P-800 or equivelant in its place a lot less
than $400. The only reason I could imagine for the
cost being that high is if that isn't the only thing
that needs replacing.

Am I guessing correctly that the panel in question is a simple, 6-zone
model? If so, an equivalent but more modern system (master control and
remote touchpad) would sell retail for less than $100.

I sell online to DIY'rs in case you're interested.

i have programmed several sp-6 controls, what do you want to do? code change?
or re-program the entire system? it takes a programmer to program the eeprom
but you can change codes from the keypad. let me know what kind of help you
need.

BTW - The Vista 10SE has NO event buffer - NO way of turning the

You can buy it at that price from many different retail sources, including
my store. I will answer more specifically to the gentleman who originally
requested the information by e-mail if he wishes.

About time someone helps this person instead of trying to sell him/her another
one. If it isn’t broke or if he/she is happy with it, why fix or change it? If
James can’t help, I think I have a users manual around the office 800-477-4515
ask for Bill.

I like the P-800. It's first missing feature I noticed is
that it has no auto arming time. At least not in the
keypad programming mode. I haven't been programming
them remotely, because they keypad program so fast.

My Mistake:
I thought Robert Bass was offering an Ademco Vista 10 Panel & Keypad For Under
$100.00

In the case of the NAPCO P-800, YES it can be offered actually for around
$85.00.

How about instead of a vista 50 get a DSC Power 832 with 128 event buffer?
much better choice, phone monitor, 32 user codes, 3 master codes, 2 duress
codes

also the Vista-20SE does have an event buffer if you really have to go
Ademco, also has Phone line monitoring

I find it interesting that they went to almost exact DSC 1550 style
programming instead of their usual 1000e type.

I'm not a big fan of the XP-400/600/Gem400/800 myself, its not a BAD panel
mind you, just prefer DSC or Ademco

Did anyone help solve this person's request ? How do you reset these damn boxes back to factory or the code ? Our contractor apparently managed to trip a dormant alarm that came with the house.

Can anyone help ? and by that i mean help ? i don't need anyone try to sell me on other crapy alarm systems here . I have downloaded the manual but its unclear how to reset the code.

Gee Whiz tzirnoon,

According to your web site you guys provided some decent words.

"We have the discipline, knowledge, and experience to provide the
support our clients need to overcome the challenges of today's evolving
business ecosystem."

If I may point out that the posting you responded to was from 1998.
By my math that is easily 19 years ago.

If you have a panel that has a problem and it is over 19 years old,
may I suggest that you power it down and call a local alarm dealer
that would suggest a 2017 replacement.

But, then you don't want another "crapy" alarm system. Hmmmmmmm
With that attitude maybe you should modify your webpage.

Sorry, I can't help you any further since I don't know what a sp-6
panel really is.

Good luck and have a good day. ;-)

Yeah, What's the matter with all you idiot's? Are you gonna help him or not?
And hurry up, you've got 19 years of catching up to do.

He's got a lot of discipline, knowledge, and experience to provide to support his clients so they can overcome the challenges of today's evolving business ecosystem and doesn't have time to look into replacing a 30 year old alarm panel just because none of you assholes will answer his questions.

What the hell is wrong with you anyway? Overcoming challenges of todays evolving ecosystems isn't easy ...... ya know????

seem the information provided is a little lacking..

the SP-6  is a prom based product and not subject to reprogramming
(unless you use a different page or new prom)

However   you might be able to reprogram the user codes. ( but you would
need to know the correct instruction for the type of keypad being used..)

I didn't notice that being ID'd  in the original request..

A suggestion would be to research the keypad being used for the
instruction to change user codes..

On a side note;

Take the Groups advice and REPLACE the control system..

Even a Dog and Pony show,  needs a new Dog from Time To Time...

It can only be programmed with an Avenger 4000 panel or an eeprom burner

Rip it off the wall and throw it away, that system was junk when new back in the late 80's, I assume the original poster figured this out back in 1998 and trashed it
