I was about to buy a wireless alarm, particularly the Yale model, however
after reading some comments in this newsgroup I have decided to plump for a
wired alarm.
I could fit one myself but unfortunately I do not have the time to do it,
could anyone recommend an alarm company (alarm) preferable in the Manchester
area on England that would fit the bill. I have a 4 bedroomed semi, one cat
and a budget of 200-250 GBP.
Thanks for any help.

Good Decision.

Err. I think you're going to need a little more than that, if you
want an alarm system which will do the job you expect it to. I'm not
trying to be funny, but I think you're going to need to budget
certainly twice that to do the job yourself, and probably around three
times that anyway, to get the job done by a decent, quality, company,
who should be NACOSS approved for your own peace of mind/comeback in
the event of any (unlikely) problems.
Your local police station will have either a Crime Prevention Officer,
or a Community Officer trained in burglary prevention - they maintain
a list of "approved" installers, for the purpose of connecting
signalling systems. A requirement of this list is that they are
registered/approved with one of the five approvals bodies. It's a
good place to start. Take a look at www.nacoss.org for installers in
your area, or at www.ssaib.co.uk - both are approvals bodies, and both
have online installer lists.

Sorry it's not what you wanted to hear, but it may help prevent an
