I'm installing a small simple DSC PC1550 alarm system. I only have
2 door sensors and a motion detector right now. My question is
- how do I tell the system that I'm not using zones 4,5 and 6?
The manual doesn't seem to be of any help. It suggests that all
6 zones need to be programmed but doesn't give an option for
disabling the zone.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

If you have programmed the system for EOL resistors then on the 1550 you will
need to short out (common & the zone terminal) the unused zones using 1K
resistors, if you have programmed the system using NC loops then short out the
unused zones with a piece of wire. The zone definition of the unused zones is
not important although I like to program unused zones as slow, silent instant
(11).

Just program zones as any type and put end of line resistors at control board.
