I am in need of an owners manual and the programming sheets for an ADT
SafeWatch Plus Entrepeneur alarm system. I inherited the system as
installed when I purchased my home and would like to reprogram the
system for local use only. All zones are working but I do not have any
codes for the system, the prior owner of the home is deceased.

Any help is appreciated in advance.

Contact ADT and advise them that you no longer wish to have the system
monitored (and the fact that you're the new owner of the house). They'll
release the panel to you, unless it's a leased system in which case
they'll give you the option to either purchase it, or allow them to remove
the equipment.

ADT won't do it, I've already tried that. They won't even sell me an
owners manual. And to think, I was even considering the monitoring
option. But I won't deal with them now at all, not after the way the
representative talked to me.

I know that I am a novice at security systems, but I've been in the
technology sector for 15 years and there has to be info out there
about this?!

I don't recognize the system by the name you used.
If you can take a picture of it and I recognize it I can send you a pdf.

Why not just replace the panel? They're not that expensive. You can then
choose your own monitoring service or none at all if that suits you. It's
not all that hard for most folks and if you've got a tech background it will
be a piece of cake.

That is an alternative. What panel would I replace it with? I actually
have two panels, one on the main floor of the house and one in a
basement garage area. Replacing the panels in my case would be the
cost X 2 but if they're not too expensive it might be the way to go.
I wouldn't think I'd have a problem doing the swapout of the panels as
long as there wasn't any hidden gotchas.

ADT has at times bought a lot of Ademco stuff. If it is an Ademco system
you can compare it to the ones here:
http://www.ademco.com/ademco/products/controls/Default.htm

Here are the keypads:
http://www.ademco.com/ademco/products/keypads/default.htm

See if you don't spot what appears to be a match. From there I or any of
the other online stores can quote you on the parts. I offer full
manufacturer's warranty; sell only new, unused parts; and add a 30-day (from
your receipt of merchandise) money back guaranty.

I can also provide you with PC software to program the system, which can be
a real help compared to doing it by keypad.

If you need help, please call my toll free tech support number. E-mail is
apparently screwed up (again) and even when it works I'm terribly slow about
e-mail. :(

Thanks for the reply. No match on anything at either of those sites.
Looks like what I have is as follows:

on printed circuit control board -

Aritech Moose with an ADT sticker that reads 1A910-50 10/97Z

Panels are Model A900R, has a ready light, armed light, 6 zone lights,
trouble light, alarm light and of course the keypad and 3 panic
buttons.

Hope this helps identify....any ideas are appreciated.

It's the ADT version of a Moose Z900. Replace it with a DSC 832 and be done
with it.

Ohhh. That's an older one. Probably a modified Moose Z1100 system. They
are out of date. The Z1100 had a little button (older models had a wire
jumper) to put the panel into programming mode. The ADT version came
without the jumper but the solder traces are still there. A little piece of
wire could be used to short the vacant position on the board where the
button should be.

In order to show you where the button would be, I have taken a screen shot
of the main circuit board of a Z1100 system. On the image I've added a bit
of text and so forth. You can view it on my server at
http://www.bass-home.com/images/faq/Z1100ProgramSwitch.gif

The button does not exist on the ADT version of this board. You will have
to substitute a short piece of copper wire across the two solder points
where "Switch 1" would be. Notice the relationship between Sw1 on the
photo, the numbered screw terminals and the nearby components on the board.
The image is to scale.

Here's the rub. There are three versions of the MPI Z1100 panel: Z1100,
Z1100 System II and Z1100e. You need the programming instructions for the
specific version you have. The "E" version is easy to recognize. When you
press #02 it bypasses zone 2. On the other versions simply pressing #2 (no
"0" required) has this effect.

There are noticeable programming differences between Systems I and II. If
you like, fell free to download all of the manuals from my server. Go to my
web site, click FAQ and then select Downloads. The rest will be obvious
when you get there. Call if you need help.

No it IS a Moose Z900 varient, the Z1100 was known as the Z1100 was known as
the Safewatch Custom A1110

Sorry but no button on the A910, I've got several boards laying around still
I think

Thanks for the info but my pc board doesn't look like the example you
gave. I also looked at your download site and mine definietely doesn't
match any of those manuals. It must be the ADT proprietary Moose Z900
as referenced by others on this list.

If you had those manuals it would be of great benefit to me.
I appreciate your input.

Thanks

Oh, OK. The Z900 was another one they used. Again, they did the same
thing -- made it harder to get into programming. I'll have the non-ADT Z900
manual on my server for you in a few minutes. It's downloading now.

If you still need help, let me know. I'll figure out how to get into
programming for you. Most of the time it's doable.

No its not any harder than any other Moose Z900, just the programming
locations are different and it uses a proprietary format for reporting

I have the manual now, but I can't get into the system because I don't
have either the master code nor the installer code. The manual says
that to reset the system back to factory defaults you need the
installer code, which I don't have. In order to reset the master code,
you need to be in the user programming mode with a either a master
code or an isntaller code, which I don't have. Catch 22? I can't get
any codes because the previous owner of the home has passed away. I
think I can figure out the programming if I could just get into the
programming mode !!

Any help would be appreciated....

Try this. Power the system down (battery and transformer out). Wait a few
seconds. Power it back up. Press 3 & 9 simultaneously on any keypad. If
it's a Z900 you should be in Installer Programming mode.
