What is everyone's view on swinger bypass. With Radionics it shuts down
the zone after four alarms and after the hour window, turns it back on.
Does everyone's preferred panel do this and do you use it?

Respectfully,

Napco does it differently. If a zone programmed for swinger shut-down trips
3 times during a single armed cycle, it will be bypassed until the system is
disarmed. I use it on systems with older motion or glass break detectors.
The newer detectors are more reliable so I don't need to use it as often.
If a homeowner has pets however, I always use this feature on motion zones.
It saves my clients a lot of grief if they forget and leave the dog or cat
home with non-pet resistant motions in use.

I like Radionics way better. The signals can't inundate the CO;
however, for extended periods of arming (vacations, long weekends) the
zone will at LEAST notify the CO. Now weather or not the pass holder
has asked that zone to be placed on disregard is another story. But
it's THEIR story at that stage.

I think the Radionics feature is also good. I'm undecided which I prefer.
The few times when we've ever had multiple alarms have involved pets and
real estate agents. It seems the latter are somehow less adept at entering
the proper code than the former. If the person on premises keeps moving
about, at least the swinger shut-down will grant "fast, temporary relief"
until the CS operator can access the system for them.

On those all too frequent occasions when clients have left the motions
active and the dog running loose, the problem with Radionics' method is the
system will re-arm the troublesome zone, sending in another string of false
alarms and annoying the neighbors once again. Like everything else except
wireless, there's something good to be said for both sides.

I can't say that all panels treat swinger shutdown the same way but generally,
after a pre-determined number of trips on the same zone, it is shunted until the
system is disarmed.

Please, use swinger shutdown. There is no loss of security to the home or
business owner. If the alarm trips and is handled in whatever manor the dealer
or end user desires, what benefit is there to repeating the procedure endlessly?
If anybody on the call list goes to the location and disarms the system, the
zone will trip again if the system is re-armed. If nobody cares enough to check
it out there is no benefit to continuously sending the authorities or calling
the call list that will not respond.

That's funny! Yes I'm sure we can train the dogs to enter the proper
code quicker than the real estate agents. There has been a documented
case of a dog dialing 911.

Swinger Bypass

Thats the feature where the alarm is set off when a visitor of
ill-moral-repute visits the secured premises . . . right?
